Also called olibanum, frankincense is an aromatic resin obtained from trees of the genus Boswellia, Boswellia Carteri. The Boswellia trees grow in the wild without human intervention and are therefore 100% natural and organic. Boswellia is a botanical medicine recognised for its fast acting natural anti-inflammatory properties. Our frankincense is wild-harvested from Boswellia trees native to Somaliland and Somalia. Boswellia trees secrete resins which consist of essential oils, gum and terpenoids. The wild-crafting or tapping of frankincense trees entails making deliberate incisions in the bark to allow a milky liquid to exude. This viscous oleo-gum resin then resinifies or hardens on exposure to air into tears or droplets which are easily detached. Boswellic acids, contained within the terpenoids, are the active constituents within Boswellia.

Okay for the price - lots of bark/debris and gummy clumps.
I probably won't order this product from this vendor again. I've purchased frankincense (Boswellia Carteri) at similar pricing from other vendors and am using that as my benchmark for quality. After separating out the actual tears from the gummy resin/bark clumps I found that the tears were decent and burned as expected but the gummy clumps tended to smother and extinguish coals and produced a more acrid smoke more like pine resin than the frankincense I'm accustomed to. However the price was economical and I've never received this gummy/bark form of frankincense so that may be normal for this form. I'll likely end up using the tears but not the clumps so the effective price for this product is higher. The product I've ordered from Sweet Essentials was of significantly higher quality for similar pricing and in my opinion a better value.

High Quality Product
This is a great product. The size, quality, and aroma of this frankincense is comparable to that of frankincense I used to get in Oman. Not a lot of smoke (I primarily use a tealight burner) but a good, full, persistent aroma that stays around. Unburned fragrance is also very good when the storage jar is left open. Tastes great too. I will probably be buying this product as long as it is available.

smells wonderful
the smell is great. However, the resin was not pure. there were pieces that may have had bark or some other organic matter so I do not recomend chewing or using this as an internal product. In my experience, this Frankincense is for burning not ingesting.

Great smelling Carterii.Not completely high quality in the sense that it came with quite a bit of bark.

Great scent. Mixed chunk sizes. Mostly tiny.
Smells great. Very mixed sizes of chunks. Very dusty. Would have received five stars if less dusty and larger chunks. Small bits don’t burn well.

I buy a lot of Frankincense, both as incense and to distill. This is a great product. Smell fantastic. Whole house smelled wonderful from just one tear.
