Cappiello: The Posters of Leonetto Cappiello

This is a FANTASTIC book. If you are a Cappiello fan, you simply must own this. It's so comprehensive, filled with posters I'd never seen before - and I thought I'd seen just about all of them! I couldn't be more delighted with the book.

Great book, has a ton of beautiful photos of the artist. It also explains what each poster means. Most are in French or Italian and it helps because they are 100 years old in some cases.

This book is very well written, with comparisons to other artist at the time, it also tells you a lot about cappiello as a person and how he thinks, the pictures in this book is amazing!

Has a great history section and lots of nice color plates. If you are into poster you need this book.

This book is simply amazing - it has such a great showing of Leonetto Cappiello's work and it is beautiful to look at. If you are interested in posters (or any art or design for that matter) you will love this book.

A stunning book about the greatest poster artist of the last century. I particularly liked the chronological order of the posters, allowing you to see the development through time.

Hier liegt der Reiz schon irgendwie im Paradox. Kunst ,als Mittel zum Zweck im Bereich der Werbung die künstlerisch richtig wertvoll ist...geht das? ja denn gerade darin liegt der Reiz. Cappiello hat einen geradezu unverschämt direkten und klaren Stil gefunden mit Form Farbe und dem Reiz des Kuriosen zu verführen. Das Argument" Mittel zum Zweck" wird durch seine graphische Genialität und technische Brillanz zweitrangig. Zudem sollte man bedenken ,dass wir in einer Zeit leben in der die Mittel der Werbung trotz allen technischen Fortschritts oftmals ausgequetscht sind . Originalität und künstlerisches Niveau sind auf jeden Fall von einer Menge anderer Kriterien abhängig. Und wer sich vom Kastendenken zwischen ernster und populärer oder gar kommerzieller Kunst freimacht findet in der Geschichte der Werbung Beispiele großer Kreativität und von hohem künstlerischem Anspruch. Cappiello hat die Kunst Aufmerksamkeit durch seine Motive, die Zusammenstellung von Form und Farbe zu erreichen zweifelsohne bis zur Perfektion beherrscht. Ein Kuriositätenkabinett aus Fabelwesen ,Teufeln ,Mäusen Elefanten ,Nixen und Clowns,etc. kunterbunt und mit dem Charme eines sehr guten Karikaturisten verfeinert. Mit diesen Stilmitteln hat er sowohl neue Maßstäbe in der grafischen Produktwerbung im 20. Jahrhundert gesetzt als auch schlicht und ergreifend das Werk eines hochoriginellen Künstlers geschaffen . Dieses Buch versammelt mehrere hundert seiner Poster in verschieden großen Darstellungen. Wertig aufgemacht präsentiert es Cappiellos Werke in hervorragendem Print. Ob mir alle der beworbenen Produkte gefallen hätten ist mir reichlich egal. Mir genügt hier allein die überzeugende Wirkung des Versprechens und der Verheißung die Cappiello so raffiert durch seine Bilder erzeugen kann. Künstlerisch und eben auf "paradoxe" Weise kulturhistorisch hochinteressant.

Meraviglioso. Per chi ama Leonetto Cappiello quest'opera é il " non plus ultra " per gustarne il suo straodinario talento di " affichiste " che non ha eguali nell'inizio del secolo scorso. Volume grande, rilegatura perfetta, pagine di carta patinata e consistente, piú di 500 immagini dai colori vivi e fedeli riproduzioni degli originali.

La consegna è stata effettuata nei tempi stabiliti. Purtroppo la copertina presenta un’ammaccatura probabilmente dovuta al trasporto. Il contenuto del libro è molto bello.

Un bel libro. Ogni manifesto ha una propria recensione ( in inglese, ovviamente) accompagnata da informazioni riguardo alle dimensioni e alla tecnica di stampa. Molto utile e interessante. La spedizione è stata tutto sommato abbastanza veloce ( intorno alle due settimane) e il venditore molto cordiale.
