It works
It is a bit costly, but it is real wood. Only one stick is required to ignite a fire log that won't ignite on its own. Its worth the price if you don't need to purchase it with any relatively degree of frequency.

Natural Alternative
I like this product becuase it is a much healthier and natural fire starter compared to other starters in the market. The wood is pretty and catches easily. What people should understand is that the wood is naturally treated with the pine tar and product is taken form stumps of pine where the resin is thickest. IT really works. Usually two sticks will start a nice fire. The only problem I have is the picture is deceiving. Product came in a color box, rather than burlap bag as pictured. If you want the bag - be very careful. I was ok with box and liek the product. I will reorder same package at this price when my fire starters run out.

Works great
At the moment, there seems to be a shortage of fatwood. A local retailer advised me that stocks were short due to hurricane weather where their suppliers are located. That being said, I've gotten fatwood from LL Bean, Orvis and Plow and Hearth over the years. This works as well as any, which means it works great. 2-3 pieces in the fireplace along with a little newspaper and smaller pieces of wood, it works like a charm. I finally ran out of my stockpiled 30 lb bag, so I got this box to hold me until my six week backorder arrived in late February. I've had fatwood for several years and never had any problems starting, since its a natural dried pine resin, it should last for quite some time.

no bag in the box like the photo shows
Be careful. The product is only in a box, no bag in the box like the photo shows. The bottom of the box had come unglued and the top lid tab was out and one side of top lid was torn, so maybe returned by someone who didn't get a bag. We had to re-glue the box since it is going to be a gift.

Natural Firestarter
We ordered this firestarter online and found that they are the perfect way to naturally start a cooking fire. Using lighter fluid with its petrochemical base while cooking cannot be good for one's health.By using natural pine sap, one only needs maybe two sticks of fatwood at most to get a strong fire going with a single match. This, combined with wood coals made for a hot fire and well cooked meats with authentic wood smell. Highly recommended.

cheaper locally
fatwood is an amazing fire starter but the amount I received for the price paid, I could have bought 2-3x the amount locally for the same price. I feel ripped off.

Great Product
What can you say about Fatwood? It either is or it isn't, and this is. Comes neatly packed in a box and is a great wood or charcoal starter. Shipment was fast.

complete scam
Apparently, one has to read, re-read an then re-re-read Amazon listings. The 'original price' of $103.64 combined with the descriptive "3lb case of 8" would imply rather strongly that there were eight three-pound packages in a 'case'...Instead, and then only upon getting the after purchase e-mail, does one discover that there is a tiny part missing from the listing, namely one " and what is actually for sale is a 3lb case of 8" ie: a three pound case of eight inch pieces. This is the second time I've ordered from Amazon and the second scam, the first being a $39 pair of boots that ended up being billed for over $100. Never again, I'm through.
