So good I had to buy a second one!
I’ve had my first bottle for about 8 months now, bought it at my local surplus store, I fell in love with it since day 1, I just bought another bottle last month, I’m a very very active person I go mountain hiking, I do cross country cycling, mountain biking, ect ect, you get the idea, my last water bottle’s lid broke so I needed something new, I work for a water filter company so I know exactly how bad the water bottles you drink, they are horrible for you I’ve been looking into a filtered water bottle for a while, the filter works great, it cleans out all the microplastics that hurt you, It’s super easy to use, the filters also last longer than anything else on the market I highly recommend it since it’s low operational cost and easy to replace filters, it also improves the taste of my water so it’s easy to be hiking and not carry water bottles and just get water straight from any water source, I’ve only once had to drink from a stagnant source of water when I went on a 15+ mile hike and I ran out of my regular water, I was a bike skeptical at first but it tasted really good due to the 2nd stage it taste kinda like a water bottle but different I like the taste personally, the bottle is nice and sleek too which I love because it’s easy to transport in my backpack or on my bike, overall 11/10 I plan to buy more of these to give as gifts and to have spares on hand!

A valuable piece of anyone's clean-water gear. Socially laudable company worth supporting!
Pretty cool! Replacement carbon filters *can* be purchased now, they are supposed to last 2.5-3 months before a change. 26 gallons at 1-2 22oz bottles per day is my math. Remember that part of the reason this offering is more expensive than a similar Sawyer product (I got some minis too-different application) is that a portion of their profits go towards delivering water filtration capability to people that really need it. That's more than worth the miniscule markup over the competition if you ask me! Now, that being said I personally feel that the regular lifestraw's utility is limited as anything more than a backup but it is basically unbeatable as a backup. The only stuff you'll find in wild water that can kill you in short order is organisms, unless there's been an industrial accident, and this gets rid of basically all of em'. If virii are a concern where you're going, take appropriate additional precautions, or suffer the consequences. Most places that have a real problem with that, you'll be able to find out ahead of time fairly easily. Anyway so the fibrule filter element in this thing (same as the one in the regular lifestraw) will filter organisms and sediment for a long time as long as you don't freeze it, bang it around too much, and remember to back-flush regularly. Other things you might want to remove from your drinking water are heavy metals and chemical contamination. Also salt, but this does not do that, you need a distiller or a reverse-osmosis machine or other magical things. The carbon filter will remove (by absorption and bonding) most things like pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and a lot of other harmful stuff, things that will not necessarily be removed by distillation, if the contaminant's boiling & condensation points are similar enough to that of water and/or your distiller design prevents their escape/removal whilst gaseous. However, it too will not appreciably remove heavy metals, nor fluoride, and some other stuff (hexavalent chromium is a big one I guess) if you care about those things a lot. Those need the distiller. So, this bottle provides: (1) a readily carried (high quality construction btw, very well made) reservoir of water, that can be collected expeditiously and stored "dirty." That's convenient! (2) Thoroughly tested and provably effective, long lasting physical filtration of biological hazards from the water. (3) Effective and inexpensive removal of organic chemical contamination via the carbon filter. (4) Substantial philanthropic utility at minimal additional cost. If you want this bottle to be a part of a pretty comprehensive filtration system, running distilled water through should pretty much score a royal flush, purity-wise. I am no expert in filtration nor have I tested that claim, but from what I know it should be accurate. Please comment if you feel that is not the case! Don't forget to backflush and change your carbon filters, also read the dang directions and precautions!

They need to bring these back!
If you can grab one of these, grab as many as you can! The water filtering on this is up to par for my high expectations. We use these for all 3 kiddos in school to avoid unfiltered water at school and microplastics. I feel much better knowing that they are drinking safe water when they are not at home using the life straw home filters. Quality you just can’t beat! These have been thrown around, dropped countless times, and nothing has broken. I think one of ours is around 2-3 years old! We just rebuy the filters! It comes with a carabiner which is great for hiking and backpacking use! Lightweight even when filled, it is a tough bpa free plastic!

Great bottle but did leak a little
I love this water bottle for how easy it was to travel all over South America with it and be able to drink from anywhere (I even used it to have a few sips of lake titicaca! Didn’t taste amazing though but that’s to be expected. I didn’t get sick though!!) I dropped it from standing once or twice and it didn’t break (contrary to the experience of some other reviewers), but it did start leaking a few weeks in to use, which is why it’s getting four stars. That might’ve been my fault though because I dropped it in the sand and maybe that caused it to start leaking? So I had to keep it upright for the rest of the trip which was kind of annoying, but the carabiner definitely helped! And I love that a portion of the proceeds goes to providing clean water for those in need. I’d definitely recommend getting this bottle over buying lots of bottled water on your travels, which creates so much waste!

Clean Water on the Go!
Works well on the go! Don’t get to use it as often as we’d like too but when we do. We know we have clean water.

Best thing ever for a backpacker! Left my original one in hostel in SEA so I brought this one to replace it. Would recommend to ANYONE especially for people that love to travel and are sick of having to buy plastics bottles of water.

This is my second bottle, I've been using these now for several years. They make such a difference to me and for me it's a wonderful product. This bottle can leak a little, my other one didn't. I wanted two so I can thoroughly clean each bottle more frequently.
