No outlet..no problem and still have light
These are extremely handy if you lack outlets as I do in my shed ..plug the shop vac and the battery tender into it and still have light

I got this so that we could turn the light ...
I got this so that we could turn the light on and off from below (have a high nightstand). It works well enough (although not smoothly) from exactly a 90 degree position, but not at all if you pull from any other angle. So it does not work for my purposes.
