The New Kingdom: Global bestselling author of River God, Wilbur Smith, returns with a brand-new Ancient Egyptian epic

Not written in Wilbur Smith's style
Readable but no where near as well written as Wilbur Smith's original books. I don't believe he had any hand in writing this at all. To me the storyline is contrived and unbelievable, especially Hui's ((where did that name come from and who could take it seriously?) So called escapes and rescue of his sister without encountering a single guard or even a slave!!The characters are not believable and even Tanus and Taita lack credibility. It smacks of an inferior writer jumping on Wilber Smith's bandwagon!

Ancient Egyptian adventure rolls off the production line
I hovered between a 3 and 4 for this book. Being honest, I like least the Egyptian stories and co authorships does raise concerns sometimes. However the balance of a master story weaver and a highly proficient action adventure author allayed those concerns. At times this story did feel like a bit of a part 1 scene setter but it moves along nicely if a little formulaic. I enjoyed it rather than devoured it as I would with previous novels and am looking forward to the next installment but that, when it arrives wont necessarily hit the top of the pile straight away.

Worst Book He's Written
This is the worst book Smith has ever written, it just fills in a gap between two others and is a real disappointment, and this is from an ardent admirer

Not Really Wilbur
I’ve read every Wilbur Smith book, some of them more than once. This story is a good yarn and is essentially a prequel to the River God series. When you’ve read enough of Wilbur’s novels, you tune into his style and this novel doesn’t quite make it.The story is good, it is well written and I can honestly say, it’s a good read. But it’s obviously co-authored.Don’t let that put you off reading it. A close second to a genuine Wilbur Smith story is better than none.

Not great but readable&.
Lacked the story telling of Wilbur Smith. The book is still readable but falls a long way short of the books he wrote by himself. Smith is sadly gone now but another book that he was working on before his death is due out towards the end of 2022. I expect that to be his last.
