DROP Redsuns GMK Samurai Custom Mechanical Keyboard Spacebar Set - 7-Keys, Cherry Profile, Gold Spacebars

Recently bought a keychron customizable keyboard. I found the keychron keycaps too tall for me. So I went through several lower-profile keycaps, and all had their shortcomings, until I got to Drop GMK Red Samurai. I don't see myself getting another keycap set.What I like about the GMK keycaps: 1) cherry profile, which to me is neither too tall or too low-profile; 2) the lettering on the keycaps are pleasing and without visible imperfections - most of my previous keycaps had either uniformity problems or used fonts I did not like; 3) the keycaps are vibrant in color but aesthetically subdued. For me, personally, there are no negatives other than the steep price

GMK legit , and looks slick

It's a perfect match for gmk hero. The color code for gmk hero isn't posted anywhere (from what I've researched), but to the naked eye the yellow is the same.

GMK is considered one of the best manufacturers for custom keycaps, but they're definitely overpriced -- and this set is even more expensive than usual GMK group-buy sets because it's kept in-stock year-round by Drop. For most beginners, this, Red Samurai, and GMK Laser might be some of the only GMK sets you can buy right away.But you shouldn't. At least, not without research and knowing this is exactly what you want: A GMK-quality set, with this specific kitting, in these exact colors, RIGHT NOW.If you need keys that aren't included (check very carefully), this set isn't for you.If you don't like the true-to-life colors (check review photos here, and photos on r/mechanicalkeyboards by searching "GMK Blue Samurai" there), this set isn't for you.If you don't want or need to spend $100 on keycaps right now, this set isn't for you.I used these for a build for my partner, and they worked great. He really liked the color of this set, and needed a set quickly. Had all the keys we needed for a YMDK split 75% build, including split spacebar support. There are some limited amounts of keys in the right profiles though, and the base kit doesn't come with novelties. The novelty kit is wayyyy overpriced and he wasn't sold on them, so we skipped it.Overall, they're nice, and authentic GMK -- even have the terrible trays to prove it -- but they're certainly overpriced. You can find in-stock keycaps of slightly lower quality but significantly lower cost and better bang for your buck at CannonKeys and Kinetic Labs. KBDFans also has a wide variety, but they ship from China so they'll be slower and more expensive for shipping. Check thocstock for even more options.There are better GMK sets (in quality, variety, kitting, etc.) if you're willing to brave aftermarket price gouging on r/mechmarket or wait for group-buy lead times. IMO this set isn't worth it, but it's available and it's real, so it's not deserving of more than a one-star deduction.

I love my GMK Nordic caps, even though GMK has always been a little overpriced, and there are great alternatives, I still have a soft spot for their quality. I decided to order a set of the legendary Blue Samurai with all the novelties. Excited to get a look at them once they arrived, I opened the UPS packaging. Only to find a mess… keycaps missing, including some alphas, and novelty modifiers, as well as packaging ripped open before I’d even gotten my hands on it. Like any GMK set I knew a few caps wouldn’t be where they should be. But these legitimately look like they survived a storm.

My biggest gripe with these keycaps is that they don't look like they do in the photos at the top of the page. Seeing them in person, the colors look much less vibrant. If there is perfect lighting, these keys may very well look like they do in the pictures, but I don't have that lighting.The Second Issue was that the keycaps were very hard to get onto the switches, I had to press very hard (to the point where I wondered if they were compatible with my switches) in order to get them on.Something that doesn't detract from the score was that the packaging was very chintzy. For $150 I would expect decent packaging.Altogether, these switches are definitely not worth $150, I think the above flaws could be overlooked if they were cheaper. Considering the price point, I cant recommend these caps.

GMK might be great with colors and legends, but their ABS is just trash. I have 4 GMK kits and they all came with warped spacebars including this one. Save your money and buy Signature Plastics, NicePBT or ePBT instead. They last longer and have straight spacebars.

First of all, I want to say that these keycaps are absolutely fantastic. The legends are crisp, the colors are pristine, and the sound is sharp. But they're also not perfect. The enter key has some plastic bits left over from manufacturing, and the space bar is a little warped. But perhaps the most annoying is the very mild shine-through on the yellow escape and enter keys while using bright RGB. These are by no means major issues, but when a set costs $200, they need to be addressed.That all being said, even at their current price, knowing what I know now, I'd still buy them again. They're hella nice.
