True Italian and delicious
Italian living in the US. This is the real deal. Just wish they were a bit cheaper (trofie are so cheap in Italy!).However the taste and quality of these is crazy good. 18 minutes to cook, DO NOT overcook them, and you can blow away your friends showing them our Italian secrets. The quality and texture of the pasta makes all the difference.Great with pesto, alla puttanesca, all'arrabbiata.

The very best with pesto!
Had this type of pasta while on the west coast of Italy. It is ideal with pesto sauce. Fresh basil is out of season, but by combining two different types of store-bought pesto and adding a little grated pecorino cheese it tasted just as good as the dishes we had in Italy. Trofie pasta has the perfect chewiness and pesto clings to it deliciously. A little expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion.

Real trofie are made by wheat flour
I am Italian, It seems that someone believe that “trofie” are made by chestnut four, it is wrong, real trofie are made by wheat flour.Back in the days, poor people were mixing some chestnut flour with wheat flour because it was much cheaper. Now you may find some “trofie bastarde” made with the 2 flours. However you cannot find any trofie made by chestnut flour only, just because the dought want stay together.

A taste of Italy
We discovered this pasta on a trip to Italy. We were told that it is especially made to serve with fresh pesto. We brought home as much Trofie as we could cram into our luggage, as we make pesto from our garden. When we used up the supply, we found Pirro online. Although it's pricey, it's delicious! The pesto really clings to it. This is our second order and we plan to keep on buying it.

Excellent pasta. We had the privilege of living in Italy for 3 years and this pasta reminded me of our time there.

A TASTE OF HOMEMADE PASTA WITHOUT BEING HOMEMADE
I am amazed at this Trofie pasta - everyone thinks I made it from scratch - the taste is fabulous - works great with either a regular italian sauce or even in a carbonara. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to impress their guests.

Not what you expect
Trofie is Chestnut flour pasta. I, like others (see reviews) expect it to be just that. There is no indication on the website that it is not Chestnut Flour, except one of the reviewers which of course I didn’t take note of. It seems like a bait and switch, because now that I can actually see the ingredients and note it is NOT Chestnut Flour, I also learn it is an item that is not returnable. Think twice unless you want wheat pasta (not whole wheat pasta) or certainly if you have allergies and anticipate it won’t harm you. Think twice if you want to be duped twice.
