I used to use a 5 micron, 5gpm Whirlpool filter in my second stage (with an RS6, 30 micron, 10gpm filter in the first stage) to get the "small stuff", and that filter did a better job (somehow) of filtering out odor.However, this RS16 unit filters down to 1 micron and passes twice the volume of that Whirlpool; this thing is definitely passing 10gpm (@ 60lb/in2 water pressure). It delivers crystal clear water almost perfectly stripped of rust (so the water softener doesn't have to do it [with all the softener corrosion problems that entails]). I think it's able to filter to 1 micron with this high flow due to the massive surface area including top and bottom which are unsealed.It lasts the full six months in our application although I think it's less effective after about four.One caveat: It's too tight to presoak successfully; so, there's lots of air in the media to get pushed out by the first several tens of gallons of water it filters. Until that happens, your cold water supply WILL be "carbonated", downright frothy with dissolved air that escapes once it comes out of the tap. It's a bit off putting in a glass of water but totally safe; it's just air. Take a shower or two, and it's gone.

I recently installed a pre filter on my water softener. I am on city water and had always assumed the water was good and clean. Boy, was I wrong. This omni-filter caught all sorts of dirt and junk. I was amazed and felt guilty for not having a filter on my home water. The filter is good for 30,000 gallons of water flow. That's several months unless you have a house full of teens!

I keep using these because they filter down to 1 micron with good flow and no noticeable decrease in water pressure or quality. But long before their rated gallon usage or time recommendation, I find they disintegrate inside the housing. I end up replacing mine every 3-4 months instead of the 1 year they recommend. And there are only two of us living in the house, so I'm very sure we do not use anywhere near 30,000 gallons. But now I'm thinking of switching to a different type of filter.

Easy to install, last a full 3 months on a whole house set up. I originally bought it to just filter the water going to the Hardy Heater which is basically a potable boiler that sends hot water to house to heat a radiator in forced air system and to provide hot water at the taps. Wished I had installed it sooner, but better late then never.

We have a whole house water filter system. This filter is a huge improvement over the previous one. Reasonably priced.

This filter provides a good balance of filtration and water flow. I live on a well and struggle with odor and taste issues. This filter takes out both without cutting my water pressure down. I have tried most of the major filters and this one ranks at the top.

These spun filters perform better and last longer than pleated ones. This larger size filter lasts a lot longer than more typical, smaller cartridge filters. I have very fine colloidal iron and these work wonders.

Make sure you look at it carefully. This one did not fit right because the hole is off kilter. Every other one I’ve received was fine. Trying to figure out How to get my money back now for this one.
