No problem at all with clumping, and I haven't used a sifter. This tea is so easy to make--somehow I was intimidated by the tea ceremony aspect of it, but it's quite simple and the tools are efficient and pretty. The key to getting the taste right--grassy rather than bitter--is not to use heaping scoops but scant ones, and to make sure the water isn't hot. A termperature-controlled kettle is perfect (175 degrees), but you can also microwave for 40 seconds or pour the water back and forth to cool it. I love the feeling this tea gives me: alert and focused without the physical buzz of most caffeine. Great for creative work or midday concentration. Customer service is friendly and excellent, and the tea is very well packaged in a foil bag within the canister.

Let me begin by saying that I'm not an expert on the matcha world but this staff is great.I've only tested a few brands and this is one of the best.
