Viva El Principe

Cristian Castro really honors José José in this album. He is an excelent singer after all. But what really attracted me to this album was hearing those old songs, my parents used to listen and I grew up knowing, with a modern twist in the music and singing performance, but I was slightly deceived, although this might be my fault, since I was expecting Cristian to implement a little bit more his own particular style. Maybe his intention was to maintain the essence of the songs keeping the alterations to a minimum, I don't know... Still, the album is superb, I love it and I would recommend it.(Only reason I take a star away is because of my own personal taste. I prefer that Cristian Castro sing in his own style, otherwise it seems a little flat to me.)Cristian Castro realmente honra a José José en este album. Despues de todo, el es un excelente cantante. Pero lo que realmente me atrajo a este album fue oir esas viejas canciones, que mis padres escuchaban y que yo crecí sabiendo, con un twist moderno en la música y en la interpretación de canto, pero me decepcioné ligeramente, aunque esto puede que sea mi culpa, ya que yo esperaba que Cristian implementara un poquito mas su estilo particular. Quizás su inteción era mantener la esencia de las canciones dejando las alteraciones a un mínimo, no lo se... Aun así, el album es espléndido, me encanta y lo recomendaría.(La única razón por la que resto una estrella es por mi propio gusto personal. Prefiero que Cristian Castro cante en su estilo, de lo contrario me parece un poco plano.)

Love his voice

Christian Castro's latest offering is a good one. I have all the originals versions with Jose Jose and although Christian does a fine job of singing these songs, he still lacks the warmth, breath control,modulation and voice control which the old master has, but still he comes out looking very good. The arrangements are a little up to date without straying too far from the originals which is good because when doing covers of a master singer as well known as these, unless your'e changing genres, you don't want to be too cocky. Christian is a fine singer and still has a long road ahead of him and this offering was approved by the master Jose Jose himself so, the student got to grow some hair on his chest. It's like if Lee Ann Rimes did a productioin covering Patsy Cline tunes. The student shines through, but the master is the standard to which it is measured.

I was never much of a fan of Jose Jose to tell you the truth. Loved the songs, but I felt that sometimes his delivery was too screamy, not romantic enough. Then out of curiosity I previewed this album and was I surprised.. this was the exact delivery I had always hoped for from Jose Jose. Cristian's voice is not as powerful, but it's got an intimate sound and he was well taught by JJ on the breathing tricks and techniques because his delivery is seamless. Good CD, well worth the money. Highly recommend it to devotees of the Mexican romantic genre.

Very nice

I am not latina but I listen to nothing but latin music. I love the music of Jose Jose and this rendering and interpretation of his music by Cristian Castro is nothing short of magnificent. Cristian selected the best of the best of this music idol and revived it for a younger generation. My only regret is no DVR was made showing him perform these wonderful songs. For anyone who loved this CD..check out Marc Antony's latest and compare his interpretation of Jose Jose ....especially his version of Almohada..which is my favorite. Loved this CD

Everything in this album is flawless:The choice of songs that make this compilation; the arrangements, that sound modern, keeping the spirit of the original versions, and of course Christian Castro's voice; no need to further comment on this.In times like this where we suffer an invasion of massive, ever-present Musical rubbish, this Album bring us the counterpart: A refreshing selection of versions from 70's-80's by Romantic singer José José -El príncipe de la canción-, carefully crafted in every sense.I greatly appreciate it and recommend it.

Cristian castro es el mejor cantante mexicano con vida, en este disco muestra su potencial como tal. De verdad me resulta increíble su voz, ni los grandes le igualan. Este CD es un completo deleite, es excelente su precio. Le hace un justo homenaje a nuestro querido José José.

Es CD está muy bien y aparte el DVD estupendo y a buen precio.

A mi mamá le encanta Cristian Castro y pues, le encantó. Me hubiera gustado que trajera DVD pero así está muy bien, viene en buenas condiciones, se oye muy bien y lo recomiendo muchísimo.
