Brilliant book taken from lived experience.
This book is a truly wonderful and insightful book that doubles as a helpful resource for those going through recovery for an Eating Disorder. Really helpful resources on ED’s are so tricky to get hold of because of how much triggering content there seems to be and how prevalent this is in the age of social media, but the authors experiences in this book show that she truly understands ED and recovery, and knows the best ways for people with an ED to work through recovery. There’s no triggering messages here, no shaming and no false messages, just resources and a journal that will actually help you get through it and recover. It feels like the author truly knows what she’s talking about and I feel like a book such as this should be spread as widely as possible and available in educational settings.Would highly recommend this.

Very helpful, I keep going back to it
I have had this book for nearly 2 months. It’s easy format makes it easy to fill in a bit go back to it add some more and then use as a go to when you need some support, and the support is written by you so is very personalised. I would really recommend to anyone with an eating disorder or trying to prevent relapse. A lot of different content so you can concentrate on what resonates with you at first and then realise later that maybe a bit you didn’t feel you could answer becomes easier. Written by someone who has experienced eating disorders so really understands.

Like a friend
This book came with me through treatment and a year on I am still coming back to it on the days when the voices get loud. If you find journalling a really therapeutic tool like me then this book is full of lots of great prompts. I found the letter writing prompts particularly helpful as well as the self-soothe box activity (which coincidentally is now where I keep this book, ready for the tough days).

Fabulous book
This is a wonderful resource for anyone recovering from an eating disorder. I’m a therapist and recommend this book a lot. I also use it to supplement some of my sessions with people. Well done to the authors for making it simple enough and drawing on some evidence based strategies. Fantastic.

A lifeline for anyone beginning their recovery or for anyone having a "blip".
As someone who has lived with an eating disorder for over 20 years and spent many hours in therapy, I can honestly say that this is a very valuable tool for anyone who has found the strength to fight and challenge their eating disorder. For me, having "blips" means that I often have to remind myself of things I've learnt in the past and this book provides everything I need to reset and get back on track. For anyone who is about to begin their recovery journey for the first time, I can honestly say that this book WILL help you through. The author has "been there, done that" and knows the thoughts, feelings and fears you will be facing. She knows how to challenge your eating disorder and how to silence the unwelcome thoughts that anyone with an eating disorder will know all too well.Congratulations Cara, and thank you for this lifeline. You are a warrior, you are worthy, you are enough.

Good book but could be improved
This is a great resource book and well written - excellent for all ages and very positive. Thoroughly recommend.Only criticism is that there is not a dustcover on the book which could be removed so that the book can be slipped into a bag and used when out and about.Bringing out a book with the title on both sides and spine makes it too obvious for younger teen girls. We have covered it in sticky back plastic to get around this issue.

A practical resource to support self care
If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would. The purpose of the journal is to support the individual on their own recovery using the experiences of the author as a backdrop. I have accessed a number of books on mental health and recovery and the best thing about this one is that you can dip into it at any time when you need reassurance. 20 affirmations and 31 days of self love are tools that can be read and re-read to anchor self love. I would love this journal to be available as a digital tool as well. It is a really positive addition to resources on eating disorders and the author should be commended for her campaigning yet gentle approach to helping others.

Excellent
I ordered this for two reasons; to better understand how to talk about a friend's ED with them during their recovery, and primarily to give to them a new journal for their recovery. In both aspects, it's been excellent. They have long spoken of the benefits of journalling and how helpful it was when in treatment, and said the format it takes is helpful for expression. It has helped us be able to better communicate when they have been struggling, particularly by phrasing questions better, with less concern of saying something triggering. Thankfully, they've found the journal to be a useful outlet, which was of course the main reason.

Arrived promptly and well packaged
My daughter raves about it. She told me it saved her from purging after receiving it. Very beneficial. I recommend it.

Simple, repetitive, little content
There are some helpful prompts, but this is a very simple resource and it gets repetitive. There are much more thorough resources/activities for EDs available for free online.
