If you need to test network cables for any reason, this tester is money very well spent! We added network cable to two floors in our home. We bought bulk cable and pass thru connectors and made our own cable runs. We learned quickly the advantage of pass thru connectors and a good crimper (Klein: https://www.amazon.com/Pass-Thru-Reliable-Klein-Tools-VDV226-110/dp/B076MGPQZQ/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=cat6+crimper&qid=1577109276&sr=8-4). There is no substitute for the right tool for the job. Several times we dropped both parts of the tester from ladders, so 5 ft or more. This had no effect on their performance. They don't claim that it is "rugged" but it stood up to our carelessness very nicely. We found it very useful that the remote unit slid apart easily so we could test cable runs from one room to another very easily. Obviously if you're testing an uninstalled cable with both ends easily accessible the tester works fine also. The switch runs the tests at two different speeds. If the fast speed goes a little fast you can slow it down to more easily watch the matching lights illuminate during testing. It's simple, works exactly the way it should and it's durable. I would buy another one or recommend one to anyone with a network cable test requirement. It's an essential tool in our tool bags!

This review is for iMBAPrice - RJ45 Network Cable Tester. I find the meter to be priced right and adequate for the task. This device is a simple and effective continuity tester. We use it test CAT6 cables that we are making to connect our electronics inside our house. This tester does one thing and does it well. It's not absolutely required. I could have used a simple ohm meter to test connections one at a time. That would have been a lot more time consuming. The plastic case of the unit I received is robust enough for its intended purpose. To be sure, it is not as robust as my $500 Fluke meter. Neither is it the lowest quality plastic coming out of China. An additional unintended benefit was when the young ones in our hose-hold were looking over my shoulder, to make sure I was doing it right no doubt. The slow blinking LED light going sequentially from 1 to 8 held a certain fascination that went beyond just being entertaining. Now there is talk of abandoning a future in politics for a future in electronics. That there is worth a million dollars. lol

This device has saved me some headache and cost verifying existing cables for wire damage/connectivity before replacing them. The device is simple, accurate, and very easy to use. The detachable remote piece is useful for verifying and/or finding downstream cable connectors. The plastic build of the device means it's light and easy to toss in a bag, but it also feels a little underwhelming. My only real issue with it is the detachable piece is on the looser side and falls off fairly easily, there isn't enough tension in the slot. I remedied this by putting a piece of masking tape along the inside edge to snug up the slot without negatively impacting its use. If you are looking for something simple, light, and low cost to simply check network cable ends, this will absolutely do the job. There is nothing deluxe about this, which is sort of the appeal.

This is basically just a continuity tester (testing each line in sequence, shield included), but it doesn't claim to be anything else. Works great for that. Uses a 9V battery.

Had to run a number of new CAT 5/6 cables around the house to bring internet to remote areas. Bought a spool of cable and a bunch of connections. This unit was inexpensive and worth it for this one project to ensure my cable ends would work.

This is great little network cable tester. If you need to make your own cables or make sure the cables you have work properly, this is a great way to get piece of mind that the issue isn't with the cable.

I bought this tester because I was planning to make a lot of CAT6 Ethernet cables and had no clue what I was doing. This tester has been amazing. It’s very simple to use, just hook each end of the cable to the tester and turn it on. If the lights go in order, your cable is wired correctly. If they don’t, it tells you something went wrong, so you can fix it before getting too far. This tool has been incredibly helpful for catching mistakes early, and it’s well worth the money. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone making or testing network cables.

有線LANの速度がとても遅いのでケーブルに問題があるかもしれないと言った記事を散見したので急ぎ購入しました。９V電池が必要です。親機と子機に分離できます。動画は先にスローモード、後に通常モードで撮影しました。 持っているケーブルはCAT６、６A、６準拠、７全て正常でした（長短１０本ほど）。一安心です。ということはプロバイダーが遅いと言うことがわかりました。プロバイダー（光回線マンションタイプ）との３年契約縛りが終わり次第乗り換え決定です。買って良かったです。
