Grades 2+
This book has great pictures and talks about the sea turtle laying her eggs, how she does it, then what happens all the way through the baby turtles making it to the ocean. It shows the mother turtle crying as she is laying the eggs, but doesn't explain why so it seems kind of sad. Then predators are shown (1- raccoons digging up eggs and breaking them apart, yolk is everywhere, 2- Crabs grabbing the baby turtles, 3-sharks 4-birds). Then one out of the one-hundred end up making it to the ocean. The book is also very wordy, which is why I would recommend to grades 2+.

Super informative for our “sea turtle” unit study!
We really appreciated this book for learning about sea turtles. It tells the story of how out of 100 sea turtle eggs, one survives. While also giving great information about how the turtles lay their eggs, their predators, etc. It may be a little “shocking” for young sensitive readers as it does talk about predators and turtles dying. My 4 year old was absolutely fascinated though.

Why Turtles Are Endangered
I used this book to culminate a unit on Sea Turtles with second grade. After learning all about their nesting, life expectancy. and turtle predators, it wasn't until I read this book to students that they really understood how few turtles make it to the sea, let alone to adulthood. The students actually gasped when they saw the picture of the first predator and the number of eggs taken. This book had a great impact on student understanding. The pictures were vivid and well chosen to demonstrate all the different predators turtles have from egg to hatchling. A teacher knows they have found a great book when there is total silence until the last page.

Turtle Enough for me
I thought this book was really great because I always loved turtles and the sad part was she laid 100 eggs and only one survived. I think that this turtle book gives alot of information about turtle eggs and baby turtles. The pictures were really great. I would recommend this book to everybody because it is a really great story and fun to read.
