Pure Brilliance
One of the funniest films of all time and started the spoof genre. I've lost count the number of times I've watched these films ( especially Airplane ) but they make me cry with laughter every time. For some reason I had neglected to buy them on DVD, so after my wife had commented on why we didn't have Airplane on DVD and I came across this Blu-Ray double pack, I decided to rectify that. While I was waiting for delivery I noticed this double pack was a US import so probably a Region A/1 and would probably not play on my UK Region B/2 player so a little panic set in. Initially I couldn't find any information to confirm if the double pack was A/1 or Region Free. I notice Amazon has them down as A/1. Fortunately both played on my Pioneer BD player without any problems. Phew !!It has been years since we last watched Airplane so put that in the player as soon as we received it. I had forgotten how brilliant it is. We were in stitches ( again ). This also appears to be the full and uncut version of the film. I have a number of VHS recordings of this film ( ex-rental, recorded from the TV, new ) and each has certain scenes missing. So I was really pleased to discover this seems to be complete. On a technical level the transfer seems really good. Both film didn't look their age. Then again, maybe my vision was just blurred from the tears to notice any imperfections. Not many extras but for the price this BD double pack is fantastic value.

Sequel falls short and no bonus features
Airplane! quite possible my favourite film of all time and guaranteed to put me in a good mood. I can't count the number of times of seen it, but I can't get enough. As for Airplane II, it never seems to b shown on telly these days, so getting the two together seemed like a good bargain. The sequel is more of the same really. Same basic plot and often the same jokes but not done in a bad way - more of a homage to the original film. BUT, the writers of Airplane! (Zucker Abrams Zucker) changed their mind about writing a sequel so the studio passed the writing duties onto other people, so the second film falls short of what it should have been. As long as you don't watch the to back to back (as I did) it shouldn't spoil your enjoyment. As for picture and sound, well the films were made in 1980/1982 so are standard definition, the sound is good quality but not going to win any awards. There are no bonus features, just the films, but as they're so entertaining you wouldn't need anything else.

Both brilliant films
Two brilliant films. If you've never seen Airplane!, then what are you doing with your life? It's one of those films everyone quotes and many people have in their top tens. Definitely a must watch. Some people give Airplane 2 a bad rap, which I think is unfair. It has the bad fortune of being a sequel, but it stands up well enough on its own - the lack of Leslie Nielsen made up for by the appearance of William Shatner. The sequel is even more ridiculous, instead about a space plane going to the moon. The plot doesn't take itself seriously and the film is fun if you don't watch it with a judging eye.

Airplane 2 only has Mono sound!
I don't know if anybody else has mentioned this, but the Airplane 2 disc only has a mono soundtrack. This is not a technical issue with my player, as the case says mono soundtrack. May not make a lot of difference, but I thought you should know!
