Great movie. Alas seems is not native 4K. IMDB says digital intermediate is 2K. Is just upconverted to 4K. Thus overpriced?
Loved the movie. Was going to be my first 4K UHD disc. Am disappointed is not native 4K movie. Saw a 4K owner post elsewhere to check on IMDB if digital intermediate is 4K. Checked IMDB under Technical Specs. Sure enough is 2K thus upscaled to 4K. Seems a bit over priced for not being native 4K. Amazon should distinguish between real 4K native movies and upscaled movies. Could even have 1K Blu-Rays that are upscaled to 4K and sold as 4K. Would never know was being scammed. Buyer beware.

Pinacle of Kaiju
Do you like robots, huge monsters, and destroyed cities? This movie covers it all, and in spades. This is the epitome of what godzilla yearned for. fantastic fight scenes, great plot (for a giant monster movie that is), and great acting.Well, for a giant monster movie. Anyone going into this expecting Oscar performances has got to re-align themselves. It's a sci-fi monster movie for pete's sake. But, surprisingly, the actors do an amazing job portraying real human relationships, conflict, and challenges. Even after watching this multiple times, it still draws some tears and cheers from me at certain points.Honestly, I don't know how they could have done the genre better. This is my epitome of the Kaiju genre. if you like those types of movies, This is definitely a good watch. If you like sci-fi and action (with believable plot), this is a good watch. If you like Mech's, this is a good watch. IMO you can't go wrong with this movie.

Seen it a dozen times and it still doesn’t get old
The first time I saw Pacific Rim wasn’t even in the theater or at home. It was part of a 3D motion ride that was reopened at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. This was years after the movie had released. The ride sequence took you through the Gypsy Danger fight scene where the freight ship was used as a bat. I cane out of the ride asking myself “what the heck movie was that based off of and why hadn’t I seen it yet?!!Bought the movie shortly after. Holy cow! Action to the end! Smart enough so it doesn’t insult intelligence; dumb enough to allow your inner child to enjoy beating the snot out of nasty monsters. I have easily watched it a dozen times since buying it.And then I waited... sequel? God smiled upon my wishes; yes. You get a sequel. So, this time I made absolutely sure to see it in the theater and bring my kids since they were loving the first movie too. About $60 and two hours later, I was sad that they killed a promising franchise with a played-out formula of “teenagers with powers/talents and an unreasonable amount of responsibility”.So I continue to re-watch the original Pacific Rim, hoping that they can make a third movie that will do the franchise justice and make the world forget about the Uprising sequel that left us all disappointed.Until then, spend the $3 to rent this for a night, turn off the lights and turn up your soundbar or 5.1 system. You won’t be let down.

What a great UHD Demo
This movie is a great genre film and if you have a 4K OLED TV its arguably the best tech demo you can find.Film:This movie is in large part excellent with a few narrative short cuts that really hinder the film. The movie feels like its missing minimally 15 minutes of development in act 2, character motivations seem undeveloped, arbitrary or childish because of pacing choices. Beyond this, you've got excellent world building, great art design, some very fun characters (when not struggling with the screen time issue) and clever use of the established fiction. For its strengths being executed so perfectly the film I think will persist as a standard bearer for the genre. I still disappointed that impatience seems to have curtailed its perfection, when you compare this with a film like "Predator" where the economy of the screenplay and the editing is perfect. This movie invites a successor to come along and supercede it with a more competently developed and executed story.IMHO this movie lands on not only must see but must own until something better comes along... and I don't think that will be any time soon.4K UHD HDR:This film is a perfect tech demo for the format and for OLED tech. Its rendition of HDR is the best I've seen in film so far. I don't know what else to say beyond that, its the best in a film I've seen to date, its the most consistently applied and on OLED its jaw dropping. Scenes that movie theaters failed to render look stunning here. If you own an OLED you need to buy and view this, don't stream it, you need to either download it or watch it from the disk. There are better movies out there that are not the same caliber of product, this is a must own IMHO.

Lovecraft meets Transformers?!?!
I really thought I would hate this movie. I am not an "action movie" kind of person at all. My taste always seem to lead me down the rabbit hole of horror and sci-fi. I rented this on a late night with nothing else grabbing my interest; and I'm so glad I did. There is definitely a Lovecraft vibe to the monsters and their origins which I really liked and the concept behind the robot fighters was interesting, in the fact that you have more than one person being the hero, it's a team effort. The acting was good, but I think the directing and cinematography was great. It was a wonderful vision that draws you in and keeps you intrigued and entertained. Great movie for any any film lover.

Steelbook version not quite as advertised.
Film's great- no problems there. But if you're buying the BluRay steelbook version, be aware it's the single disc version and thus doesn't include the Directors Notebook feature and deleted scenes. Which is made doubly annoying when the disc's packaging claims it does! Not the seller's fault by any means- they've advertised it how it's presented on the packaging slip- but it does kinda effect the purpose of buying a collectors edition if stuff's missing! And it was missing the download code, too, but that's a pretty common thing in my experience.

Superb in 3D
I avoided buying this movie for a while, thinking it was part of the transformers series, but it is something completely separate.Great action and the 3D effects are some of the best I have seen.

Super
An excellent sci fi action movie and I love it when I get the blu ray dvd that comes with the slip cover. Even better again is the slip cover is holographic art work.
