Kidsongs - A Day at Old MacDonald's Farm

Great for kids First in the series
When this particular video originally came out it won awards. Here is what I like: lots of kids songs that are easy to sing. Kids are singing the songs and the kids are ON PITCH. The singing is done well. If your kid sings along they won't learn to sing flat because they will be hearing pitch accurately. I'm gonna tell you about the series. The earlier ones in the series are better. For some reason later in the series they introduce the biggles. I'm not fond of them, but the kids didn't mind them. For my money the earlier ones in the series like this one are well worth the money. I enjoy the assortment of songs and each video uses a theme to wrap the songs around tying them together.

MY 12 month old grandchild loves it
I had this on VCR tape for my children when they were small. When my 1st grandchild was born I still had the VCR tape, Butno longer had a VCR. I searched online for "KIDSONGS A Day at Old MacDonalds Farm" on DVD. I found it here and ordered itfor her 1st Birthday. At 12 months old she just loves it. She bounces to the music, loves the ducks, horses, cows. She alsoloves the previews of all the other KIDSONGS DVD"S. She doesn"t take her eyes off the screen, and she's happy, pointing, jaberingthe whole time. The baby was not the only one who likes it, My 21 year old daughter sat down and watched it and said "this wasmy favorite tape when I was small." MY son and daughter loved watching the tape till the were 5 or 6.

kids love it
A few months ago my 2 year old daughter (who never wants to watch tv/movies) chose Kidsongs "A visit to Old MacDonald's Farm" to check out from the library. She absolutely loved it and was very mesmerized by it. After checking it out every week for over a month I ordered it from amazon.com. I run a Montessori preschool out of my home and showed it to the children one day for movie friday and now that's all they want to watch! They love to sing along and go through the motions. My daughter has become obsessed with Scarecrow (the host of the movie) and will be a scarecrow for Halloween. I've yet to show the movie to a kid that doesn't love it. I also recommend the Kidsongs Circus movie.

Kidsongs - Day at the Farm
One of my students' favorites for Rainy Day Recess as well as when we are doing our Farm Unit. They like the fact that the songs are short, catchy (read old standards WE learned when we were kids) and there are kids singing them. One of the original 13 - sorry the newer ones just aren't quite as good. Great for any Early Childhood Teacher, parent, grandparent. You will have great fun watching together - and if you're really energetic, you can act them out (after watching them with your child a few times). Enjoy!

but I have to say I love it too because it first came out in 1985 ...
This DVD has been played so much that I'm surprised it still works. My children watch it over and over and over and over.......but I have to say I love it too because it first came out in 1985 when I was a child. Anytime there's that nostalgia associated with a product it just makes it that much better. Oh and the disc repeats on its own so no restarting it when it's over!

Great song selection meets a real SCAREcrow
I purchased this DVD for my 22 month old to watch in the car. He loves music and farm animals. He appears to enjoy the movie as it kept his attention, he clapped along and recited the names of the animals. Oh, how I wish there were more animals featured in this 30 minute program. The scarecrow “guide” was described by others in the car of varying ages as terrifying, truly frightening, the stuff nightmares are made of. We all agreed the face paint really hammered the nail in the coffin of our fear. It’s Day of the Dead meets circus clown meets straw accessories. At one point, he appears magically on a hay wagon. In another, he does a Biden-esque hair flip/toss on one of the children. Again, the baby whom the DVD was intended for was largely unaffected by this character, or so we believe as he can’t speak yet. I would imagine age 6 and up would start to be a little suspicious, and by time your teenage child/babysitter/cousins caught a glimpse, it would be definitely concerning. The song selection was fun. I would like to point out for prospective buyers, that our favorite was shortenin’ bread. However, the amount of food grandma makes could set unrealistic expectations for breakfast time around your house. “About a hundred hot cakes” is referenced. And we all thought Sean’s over zealous hot cake request was just too much. This video is from 1985, so what I view as nostalgia, my children viewed as comical or odd. Enter the head singing twinkle twinkle floating among the stars. And just when you’re really enjoying the kids dancing around the mulberry bush, here comes, you guessed it, scarecrow.4 stars for keeping my child from crying in the car. Minus 1 star for…well, you know.

Must have for toddlers!!
This DVD is great! I have a very active 16 month old who never stops for more than 5 seconds for anything EXCEPT this DVD! She loves, loves, loves music and when I pop this in she drops whatever she's doing and runs to the TV and is mesmerized. I've never seen this reaction from her on any other DVD. She dances to the music and tries to sing along! We play it on the DVD player on road trips and it has made a world of difference! Highly recommended!

Good for the kids
This is the second kids songs DVD we have gotten and they drive me nuts but the kids love the songs. This one had a lot of good traditional songs at my kids love dancing to. The kids creep me out personally but it is about what the kids think isn't it?
