Awesome book
I bought this one used, and I was really happy to see that the pattern was still in the back - untouched! I recently bought several of the Chanin School of Making books, including this one, and I have it. Awesome ideas for clothing and home decor. There are even recipes included! I love the pattern as it's for a top to dress (and anything in between). I am SUPER excited to start making items using the Chanin techniques - they are so beautiful! This book is a great inspiration for those that love hand sewn items.

Sweet Home Alabama
If you liked the Alabama Stitch Book, you are in for a treat because I think this book,Alabama Studio Style is even better. I had it on my list for months but it was definitely worth the wait. Once and a while you find a book that you know will not be a quick read or a book placed on the shelf to be occasionally used as reference material. Once in a great while you find a book that will become a friend that will be carried from room to room, covered with post-its and scribbles, referenced and used constantly. Alabama Studio Style is that kind of book. Part craft book, part cookbook - filled with antidotes about the food and the people of Florence Alabama - people I'd love to meet - the book quickly becomes an old friend.I have not put this book down since it arrived in the mail. The projects are so beautiful. Natalie can do more with cotton jersey than I ever imagined. I've already bought materials to start my first project from the book and am currently cutting my stencil. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. So this weekend I'm looking foward to making the "Put Up Tomato Tart" and "Angie's Classic Cupcakes". Then I'll be sitting back with my cupcake, a cuppa tea and my project. There are enough projects, recipes and inspiration to keep me going for the next few months. I know it's early in the year but this is my pick for the best craft book of the year.

wonderful book
I have the Alabama Stitch book, and was waiting with great anticipation for the follow-up, Alabama Studio Style. I was worried it would not be as wonderful as the first book, which was simply magical, but I was truly amazed by the new book. It offers an even greater array of project and techniques that are inspiring and visually stunning. I made several projects from the first book, and am sure I will make several from this one as well. I was most impressed by the dress patterns, as those are the pieces in the Alabama Chanin line that I find most appealing, and there are several option to make stunning variation of your own. I didn't get the feeling it was a watered-down version, which some "DIY' projects can appear to be, but an authentic version, to which you can add own individual touch. Plus, there are a bunch of recipes I can't wait to try, especially the Bloody Marys. It is definitely worth getting and exploring on your own.

This book is amazing!! I was so inspired with every page
This book is amazing!! I was so inspired with every page. It is very well written and when you are done with reading it you want to pick it up over and over again... the book quality itself is pretty incredible. I am the daughter of a paper maker and the coated paper in this book make it a great gift for anyone that understands the energy that it takes to put this kind of book together!! Love Love Love everything about it! cheers from the Western Mountains of Maine!!!

More beautiful sewing patterns and projects from Alabama Chanin
More beautiful sewing patterns and projects from Alabama Chanin! In particular, I love the camisole dress and gored skirt and have sewn up both of them more than once. Both patterns are great for basics made up in unembellished cotton jersey, or for really special pieces complete with hand applique and beading.I haven't sewn any of the smaller projects in the book, so can't comment on those, but the garment patterns are top notch, relaxing to sew by hand, and enjoyable to wear.A great read and a valuable addition to my sewing book library.

what a brilliant woman.
can't go wrong with alabama Natalie Chanin! such a unique style and mentality. And she isn't stingy - she teaches you how to do what she does and tells you everything. But the reason she is so fearless in doing this is because is it a TON of work and most people just won't do it. Still, its a treasure of a book. She sells her hand-sewn stuff for thousands so your options are to buy hers or make your own. And she has answered both of those choices with product. what a brilliant woman.

Blissfully simple
Alabama Studio Style is a must, a must for anyone who yearns for simple beauty with a little flair, a little something extra, a little unexpected pop thrown in for good measure. While it might be nice and easy to run to the nearest big box decorating or clothing extravaganza, Natalie Chanin invites the reader to take a moment and consider what you really yearn for and how you can achieve it...artfully, simply and perhaps most importantly, authentically. Often times, that can be by your own hand. With simple tools, instructions and patterns, she instructs you in the fine art of making something, whether a simple pillow, a plate of deviled eggs, or an entire dress, the reader is encouraged to try. I encourage you to read this book with an open mind...an eye toward thoughtful, simple bliss...handcrafted...by you.

Another book of fun projects
This book is a nice continuation of projects from Natalie Chanin's first book. The one thing I could have done without was the complete reprint of directions on how to sew from the first book. I appreciate the idea that some customers may not have access to the first book, but a condensed version of the sewing directions would have been nice. This book contains a bit more "lifestyle" information than the first book, but generally focuses on the same style of sewing as the first book. I purchased both books at the same time, and I am happy that I did.

Ala Fabulous
What a lovely, inspirational and very stylish book! I've tried a few things, the A line skirt but with my own design for the stencils and it looked amazing. So easy and definitely for the sewing machine shy! {I sewed it on holiday by hand.}It's a bit of a life style book but full of good and warmly written instructions on how to make Natalie Channing's clothes {and cakes and home wares.}Good vibes oooze from the pages and it's always sunny!

Alabama studio style
Fab book. I would reccomend it for anybody interested in needlework. The garments are all hand made in jersey. Simple styles, easy to fit but not very forgiving so I suggest using double jersey. The embroidery and beading elements make the garment. The three books in the series are all different but have similar ideas so try this book first. I have not seen anything like this technique before so would be useful for students as well as for an experienced seamstress. This is not a beginers book.
