Notespeller for Piano - Book 2: Hal Leonard Student Piano Library

My son's piano teacher asked me to buy the Notespeller series as a companion to his instruction. Book 2 continues the lessons with a focus on learning to read music. It was during this series that he really got the hang of sight reading by reinforcing his ability to quickly determine each note in each clef - this made his overall playing better. By working on his Notespeller homework (which can be done anywhere, doesn't need to be near the piano) - my son was able to further his learning at a quicker pace. Best for me - during his lessons, his teacher spent more time working on other aspects of his playing and less time on note recognition - making the money I spend on lessons go to better use. I highly recommend the Notespeller series.

My students often play better than they read notes. As their piano teacher, I have to be sure they're getting the fundamentals of music down- i.e., note reading! These note spellers are terrific. They cover notes on the grand staff, note values, rests and more. I often do a page with them during a lesson, (or at least start one), and have them finish it at home. Love these books and do recommend.

I ordered this book based on the recommendation of my daughter's piano teacher. The books arrives in good condition and hopefully it is useful to my daughter's piano study.

My 7yo son has worked his way through both book 1 and 2 in this notespelling series. He really enjoys the cute notespelling stories and the illustrations, and he is definitely making progress in his music reading.

The Notespeller for Piano book is used by my child's music teacher for homework assignments. This is the second level we have purchased in the Hal Leonard series and we could not be happier. The lessons are easy-to-follow, even for a non-musical parent assisting with the assignments.

This book achieves the impossible by making piano theory fun. My seven year old completed page after page for her own enjoyment and to keep up with the adventures of Spike and Party Cat.

This is another great book from the series which my sons piano teacher asks us to buy. Coming up to his grade 1 exam so is helpful.

A must for any budding pianist learning how to play

These notespellers are the best on the market. Kids love the story lines and the activities are very helpful for reinforcing note naming and recognition. There is also a lot of interval work (another crucial skill for developing fluency in music reading). I'm an experienced piano teacher and these notespellers are my favorites!
