Cuts at a proper rate
I use the stone to flatten my 12k finish stone. Works better and easier than a 400 grit diamond flattening plate I've used for years. I used some pencil light pencil marks to show low spots while using stone. When all the pencil marks are gone, stone is again flat. Stone works fast enough to get the job done but slow enough to give control and not take off too much. 12000 stone is expensive and ya can't put back what ya take off. White stone removes the very small scratches and surface is like new again. This removes embedded metal from sharpening so stone works better.

Brief instructions if you need any
1. Soak your stone first2. Make passes with only 2-3 lbs of pressure. Vary the angle slightly to avoid creating deep scratches. If your stone is very dished out you will need to make a lot of passes. Wash off the top of the stone every 10 passes or so.3. Once level, make a few angled passes on the long edges of the stone. You want an imperceptible bevel on the sides to avoid scratching your knife on hard angles.4. Wash the stone off and then make a few passes with the smaller leveling block.5. Once the stone is renewed, you can simply perform an abbreviated version (fewer passes, around 5) after each knife that is sharpened.I hope that helps!

Good flattening stone if used frequently for maintenance
Purchased this flattening stone to try to salvage a half dozen wet stones that I abused into fingerboard skate ramp shapes over the years. Quickly realized this stone is not a miracle stone and power tools were needed to correct my irreverence and develop some reasonable expectations of a flattening stone. After sorting those out and purchasing a few new stones I started using this stone frequently during and after all sharpening sessions on my lower grit utility stones. My experience is that this stone works well if used frequently to avoid irregular stone surfaces but not so great to repair stones with egregious wear and tear. A ounce of Prevention is worth a pound of cure in this case. With reasonable expectations and habitual regular use on currently flat wet stones I think this stone preforms well and does what it is intended to do.

Great product poor packaging
The stone was broken in the middle due to inadequate packaging. I glued the two pieces back together and mounted to a board. Product now performs as advertised.

Pretty common good quality flattener
It's a mid-range flattener for whetstones / water stones. Good value for the price and should last while. Not packaged that great - first one came damaged, but Amazon replaced it and the 2nd one was fine.

No clue how to use the white, the gray cleaned up and sharpened other stones and chisels.
No clue how to use the white, the gray cleaned up and sharpened other stones and chisels.I wish it had some guidance and the grooves kinda ruin that side for tool sharpening.
