A Rage for Falcons: An Alliance Between Man and Bird

Beautiful read
This book is a rare gem and a extraordinary read for anyone who loves nature and its magnificient birds. The selection of words is of such quality that even a reader without a preformed knowledge about hawks will immediately see, hear and feel what the author is describing -just as if one would be watching a falconer with his birds and listening to his wisdom. I can only recommend it. It's honest, personal and a refernce to the beauty of nature, animals and the ancient team work of man and beast.

Insight into a nearly lost art
An interesting journey through falconry, as though you are the apprentence. From capture (or hatch) to releasing this wild bird with only the hope that it will return, you are there for the experience.

Wonderful
My interest in falconry stems from my last name (van der Valk). I wish I could participate, but have to be satisfied with reading of other’s experience. This book was such an enjoyable escape. The author’s passion carried me along, out to the woods and fields. It was a great book to have on my phone, because I could drop in any time and get back into it. Great if you’re interested in birds or hunting.

A look inside an experience few will know first hand.
A Rage for Falcons takes you on a journey few will get to experience, but through his words Stephen Bodio draws you into the lives of these magnificent, noble predators of the air and into the lives and experience of those fortunate to partner with them. This is a book that I found well worth reading and is one I will acquire in material from to add to my library to be read and re-read.

beautiful prose on a fascinating subject.
darn close to poetry, an formative and lyrical extended essay on man and bird, with great stories. might not make you a falconer, but it'll help you understand the fascination, and dispels some negative myths.

A Worthwhile Read
The is more of a long chapter, or what might be termed a monograph, than a book. That said, it's a worthwhile read.

Great read.
Gripping from out, a lovely tale of falconry. Not a how to manual but a story of what it feels like to be a falconer. Only wish it was longer!

Very interesting sport
I am enjoying this book. The author is well informed, has and trains birds. Did not realize there are quite a few different kinds of birds used with different personalities and hunting styles. You do not get into this sport without dedication. Even harder than training a good hunting dog and at some point the bird may decide to just go wild again.
