Great read for my 8 year old!
My almost 9 year old loves this book and it had him laughing the whole way through! Cute for younger kids too. My 4 year old liked listening to her older brother read it to her. Great book for 2nd or 3rd graders.

My nine year old grandson read this book to me. It was a good book for his age.

Fun to Read!
My six year old grandson is really starting to read, but we have trouble finding engaging books that he wants to re-read. This one was a complete hit! Really cute story with lovely illustrations. I would purchase again!

Awesome!
My children love this story so much, they are 8,3 and 1. We take turns reading it to each other at least 3times a week. It’s one of their favorites!

Reads like a fairytale. Story is a little slow.
Reads like an fairy tale. Reminds me of how stories were written when I was a kid in the 70's. My 7yo is a huge dragon fan, she was not a huge fan of this story though, so that was a little disappointing. Illustrations are cute.

A little repetitive for my 6 year old
My 6 year year old said it was a good but not great book. She began looking to see when the book was to end was about halfway through.

Pretty good
A pretty good book but could be scary for smaller children (spoiler alert: the dragon eats some of the other characters). Also, I'm not sure about the illustrations, the princess looks awful whereas the other characters look cute.

We love the Step into Reading collection
We have lots of step into reading books for my nearly 6 year old who really enjoys them.We started purchasing more of these during lockdown remote learning and they have really helped her to find joy in reading fun books, she really enjoys reading independently and is already very confident when reading the level 3 books.Since returning to school she has already jumped up two reading levels. She reads daily to herself or her teddies and sometimes in her head but a minimum of 10 minutes a day is also spent reading aloud to an adult.

A hit with our five year-old
Our five year-old daughter is currently working her way through the Step Into Reading books. We live in Italy, but her mother-tongue is English. Although she will get English in Italian primary school, we have no illusions about the quality of that instruction and so she learned to read at home before starting school. For some British parents and teachers, the American origins of these books could well be an issue. However, our daughter has learned a weird hybrid American-British version of English from her weird American-British father, so it's not a major concern for us. When she comes to a difference like colour being spelled without a "u", I point out the variant spelling, explain the difference and then we move on. Some of the differences my daughter finds funny - like the use of "Pop" for father in this book - and she has temporarily adopted them just for their annoyance/amusement value. The more complicated differences between American and British usage - such as the use of "gotten" - I've just left for another day.As far as I'm concerned, the most important thing about this book is that our daughter enjoyed reading it and, immediately upon finishing it, went off to read it to her mum. Many other Step Into Reading books - although not all - are just as successful in making the practicing of reading fun and rewarding. We used Jolly Phonics in the early stages of learning to read a few months ago, but that scheme's readers, although they are much more accurately graded than the Step Into Reading series, are generally pretty tedious and uninspiring. We are getting through them, alternating the Green (Third Level) Jolly Phonics readers with Level 3 Step Into Reading books, but it is a bit of a slog and some bullying and bribery is required.Although this is labelled as a Level 4 book, our daughter did not find it as challenging as some Level 3 books. She did find it highly amusing and she laughed like a drain at some scenes.I'm left with only one question: what in the world is a Hooty Witch?

Nice pictures and an interesting story!
This was my first downloaded book for my daughter. I hadn't found many reading scheme ebooks on Amazon, although haven't had my kindle very long. It isn't clear what sort of reading level this is aimed at, so I just bought it anyway, as either a recap for her or as practice. She enjoyed the story, and the pictures were lovely. I'd say that the book was around Orange level, as that's her reading level at school and the book certainly wasnt too difficult for her. I would happily buy these books again.

Excellent Value
My five year old granddaughter loves this book as it has a good story, loads of colour and was rather silly - just what she likes.I feel that at the price was very good and is what I am prepared to pay for a child's book on kindle although we read it on iPad.
