tells the story of the founding of motorcycle culture
It's a good book that tells many stories about one of the original motorcycle clubs in America and the culture it help to found. At times it circles back on itself repeating stories, but only the good ones.

Going back to the Biker roots!
This is a good book. Details the history and birth of one of the oldest motorcycle clubs in this country, the booze fighters. The book was so good that it actually led me to look up the local chapter of the Boozefighters and meet them. Who knows? I might become a prospect!

Great stories of the beginnings of Motorcycle Clubs.
For me a great look at my family history. My father is Cookie the owner of the All American Cafe where the Boozefighter began. Growing up my parents where always telling stories about these times. Unfortunately my father passed away in the 1980's and my mother passed before I knew about this book. My mother told many stories to my kids about Wino Willy, Teri, Fatboy, Les, and many others, as she aged these stories became more and more important to her, my regret she didn't read this book. My mom Doris Cook would of been so tickled to see this all in writing I can tell you that the boozefighters and the 13 rebels were a group of people having fun and working hard to take care of their families.Thank you Bill Hayes for memoralizing these stories for future generations and letting this family know that grandma's stories were real (wooden legs and a police car, she was there).

Biker History
This book contains a collection of stories from Boozefighters members. All the stories are great, and read like they were told to you around a campfire on a run. The stories tell of a time now gone when the clubs were comprised of reckless fun-loving guys who wanted to ride motorcycles and enjoy life in post WW2 America. Before the helmet laws, police crackdowns, when riders could belong to multiple clubs and a used Knucklehead went for $150. If you can read this book and not wish you could don your leathers and roll your bike into a time machine and ride down to the All American Cafe in South Gate CA. to lift a glass and ride with The Boozefighters, then you might be more motorcyclist than biker. If on the other hand, you wish you could turn back the clock and hang with Wino Willie, J. D. Cameron, Vern Autrey, Gil Armas, and the rest of the club, you need to own this book!

Book arrived damaged.
I’m giving this review 3 stars because I’m familiar with the book and it’s a great read. I want to give amazon a 1 star review. Look at the pictures. I’ve had this issue before with Amazon. I’ve had a few other products arrive damaged. A couple of them were clearly intentional.

Good read but tends to drag in certain areas...
I really liked getting to hear some of the stories of the original boozefighters and what happened in Hollister. The guys that formed the group were an interesting bunch and it was interesting to see how much things have changed in respect to the "Outlaw" label. After awhile though, it started to drag a bit i was having a hard time staying interested. There were some stories that were just not very entertaining or interesting to me.Overall, it is worth the purchase and Bill Hayes is a good writer. (Check out "American Biker") enjoy.

The Original Wild Ones
I wasn't sure when I purchased this book, but having now read it, I know I did not waste my money. The reader is taken back to the post-war boom era for motorcycles. America went motorcycle crazy and following a drunken weekend in Hollister a legend was born. Though the legend bears little relation to fact, the world 'remembers' the lurid tales told in newspapers and men's magazines. Here is the chance to read the real story from the real boozefighters. Great read, well recommended.

Excellent ride back to the start of it all
I have read lots of different biker books, and this really has to rate highly.A very good look back at really where it all started, the stories from the original members are excellent, giving a really good in-sight into the so called ''Lifestyle'' that some of us choose.Truly excellent read and highly recommended

Good book if you're a biker -leave alone if you're ...
Bike gangs in America before the Hells Angels and so on. Good book if you're a biker -leave alone if you're not into American bikers.
