Goldwork Embroidery Chinese Style: An Illustrated Stitch Guide

Beautiful book. One of the best I have ever seen.
This is just a joy to own. It is different enough from European style to make it a good addition to my library. It is excellent as a "how to" as the projects are explained in detail. I can't wait just to make the Gourd Leaf you can see on the cover. there are 4 templates which you could adapt in various ways. And to my delight there is very little space given to "set up" techniques. It is a really good example of how to design a "how to " book that will appeal to experienced embroiderers but can be used by beginners to.

Pretty book with basics and more advanced projects
I found it more useful and inspiring than other books on the matter. Author blends tradition with modern, which allows more practical application of techniques. I think it's a brilliant way to keep the art relevant and alive. I'd say it's a good book for beginners who want to try things out, so long as you ignore the large projects and just stick to trying things one at a time. Otherwise it can get overwhelming pretty fast with all of the wire types, stitches and techniques required to finish a project. I'd recommend the project part to more dedicated embroiderers, who already have some knowledge on the topic and a moderate stash of supplies.
