Bruce Lee's best all around film
Fist Of Fury was Bruce Lee’s second martial arts film after he’d grown frustrated with his lack of success in Hollywood and returned to Hong Kong. It is hands down his best all around film. It has a strong story of Bruce as Chen Zhen seeking revenge for a Japanese Karate school killing his teacher and attacking his peers. That tied into a larger theme of Chinese nationalism. World War II had engendered deep hatred amongst the Chinese for what the Japanese did to their country during the conflict. Bruce tapped into that, which made it a huge success in Hong Kong. The action brought in fans in the U.S. where it was released as The Chinese Connection, and in Europe as well making Lee an international star just like he wanted to be.The play on Chinese nationalism is made as soon as the Japanese make their first appearance. The Karate school delivers a framed banner to Chen’s school calling China the “sick man of Asia.” This was a phrase originally used in the 1800s to discredit the Chinese monarchy as it was facing famine, corruption, and European, American and Japanese encroachments into its territory. Chinese knew this insult well so when Chen shows up at the Karate school, returns the banner and literally destroys all the students there it was going to have a big response in Hong Kong. The film would return to this issue other times like when Chen is refused entry to a park which says no dogs or Chinese were allowed in.Fist Of Fury features one of Lee’s best and most iconic fight scenes. That occurs when Chen pays his first visit to the Karate school and breaks out a pair of nunchucks. That is so important because millions of people around the world wanted chucks afterward. The movie also highlighted Bruce’s acting skills. Sometimes he’s burning with anger and is biting at the bit to get revenge like at the start when he returns for his teacher’s funeral. Other times he throws in a bit of comedy such as when he poses as a phone repair man to get intelligence on the Chinese school or pretends to be a rickshaw driver to lure in one of his victims. The only down time in the film is when he sees his girlfriend and things get melodramatic. Otherwise Fist of Fury is a martial arts classic hat stands hands above most of the other Hong Kong releases from this period.C

Fists of Fury = "The Big Boss"
To be clear:Fists of Fury = The Big BossThe Chinese Connection = Fist of FuryThis blu ray's title is based off of the American release title, so try not to mix up "Fists of Fury" with "Fist of Fury"This is a very good quality blu-ray transfer of the 1971 film The Big Boss. It's Bruce Lee's first major film and the quality of the picture and sound were great! Also it includes reversible cover art, with the original The Big Boss poster cover on the inside. So you can easily switch it out if you are into the vintage artwork. This is a must own for any Bruce Lee fan!

Not in Chinese!
First of all, the movie was fantastic! Bruce Lee is a complete joy to watch! That said, I paid for the rental even though I had access to the movie over prime because it said it was in Chinese while the Prime version was English dubbed. THIS IS A LIE! Both the prime and rental are English dubbed, for which I was extremely disappointed! English dubbing of Chinese is tricky under the best of circumstances, and in the 70's it was downright sketchy! If you are like me and prefer to listen to the original Chinese do not bother to buy this, it's a waste of money! Just watch the free one on Prime, it's basically the same.(P.S. My rating reflects the poor American dubbing, not the film, which as I said was very fun and very well acted, despite the stupid voice over!)

Not in Chinese!
This was an amazing movie and the only reason I’m rating it a 1 is due to false advertising. In the description it says that the audio is Chinese and the subtitle are English but this is not true. I love this movie but I would have preferred to watch it in its original language.

His Fists were furious!!!
I remember the first time I saw this classic! I was 15 years old and it was the first movie I'd ever seen in theatres!! I remember every detail as if it were only yesterday! That's how powerful the impression that was left on me!! Bruce Lee's acting ability was only over shadowed by his Martial Arts skills. But in the scene where his fellow students were trying to convince him to leave, (though subtle), speaks volumes of his acting skills!!! This is a great story, ( although sadly rooted in truth), it has everything you'd want in an action movie!! He really changed the game when he popped on the scene, and his charisma jumps off the screen!!! This movie still stands the test of time and I'm happy that new generations are being influenced by this, Master of Martial Arts!!! After all these years he's still talked about, after all these years, he is still a legend!!! BRUCE LEE, AKA, "THE LITTLE DRAGON," FOREVER!!!

Original 1971 Fists of Fury (aka The Big Boss)
This is the one with the ice house and bad boss, the original ""Fists of Fury" (aka The BIg Boss, release in 1971). Not "Fist" of Fury (The Chinese Connection) with the school and murderd teacher. Well done remaster of the original film on Blu-Ray, and with multiple soundtracks to chose from.

POSSIBLY HIS GREATEST FILM, PHENOMENAL
HAVING SEEN THIS MOVIE SO MANY TIMES, SEEING IT IN FULL HD WAS SPECTACULAR. THIS MAY HAVE BEEN HIS MOST SUPERB ALL AROUND MOVIE, COMPETING WITH.......CHINESE CONNECTION......AND ENTER THE DRAGON.....WHICH WAS RATHER COMMERCIAL. THE PLOT IS EXCELLENT, PLACING THE CHINESE POPULATION AGAINST THE OCCUPYING JAPANESE CONTROLLINGFORCES. BRUCE IS A MEMBER OF A MARSHAL ARTS SCHOOL UNDER SIEGE. HIS ACTING IS PROBABLY HIS FINEST, BEINGUNDERSTATED AND SUBTLE. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE, THE FIGHTING SCENES ARE PROBABLY HIS FINEST. GET OUT THE🍿 AND🍕 & ENJOY THIS MASTERPIECE.

This Fist still has the impact of a Sledgehammer.
My Personal favorite Bruce Lee film 'Fist of Fury' ( 1972) is given the Blu Ray treatment and Medium Rare have done a great job.The picture is much improved since the Hong Kong Legends excellent platinum edition. What was really exciting is that Medium rare have also rectified the sound mix problems that were on the English dub in the Hong Kong Legends Platinum DVD.Restored is the missing line of dialogue spoken by Nora Miao to Bruce Lee in the graveyard scene. On that disc all you saw was her lips moving. The line is- for you trivia fans- " and now will you tell me about your plans" Also corrected is the missing ( on English dub) blood curdling scream that Bruce unleashes at the climax of the film. On the HK legends all you heard was the 'Fist Of Fury' theme song sung by Mike Remidios. Also for those who prefer listening to the English dub. The voice of the villain Petrov is by a member of the Golden Harvest dubbing team. In all other dubs Petrov's voice is dubbed by Bruce Lee himself doing a mean Russian accent. The HK Legends Disc for some odd reason inserted this onto the old English dub probably thinking it would please the fans. Also you not only still get the choice of the Cantonese and Mandarin dubs but also a hybrid American dub too. Foley effects sound great and are very dramatic in the amazing hard hitting fight scenes. The extras are the same featured on the Hong Kong legends disc and the menu is nicely presented while backed by the famous Joseph Koo theme tune. There is also the addition of a 24 page booklet (with reversible art work) which gives background into the true story that ' Fist Of Fury' is based on. This was the first Bruce Lee film I ever saw at the cinema and its impact has never lessened. Bruce Lees portrayal of Chen Zhen is a of a man tipped over the edge by his Kung Fu masters death and he goes insane. The fights therefore are a reflection of his insane ferociousness and Bruce Lee is absolutely terrifying to behold as he screams, punches and kicks his way to gain his revenge. And its all uncut and uncensored.

Classic
An all-time classic of Hong Kong martial arts cinema made spectacular by the legendary skills of quite possibly the greatest martial artist of all time, Bruce Lee. Based on a real character, Chen Zhen, a student of legendary Kung Fu master Huo Yuan Jia, this film was immensely popular in Hong Kong upon it's release by playing on the patriotism of the Chinese and their hate for the Japanese. Bruce Lee's character Chen is a furiously patriotic Chinese Kung Fu expert determined to stop the Japanese from bullying his countrymen and to prove that his Chinese Kung Fu is superior to their Japanese styles of karate, aikido etc. He doesn't do this by halves. Charging into a Japanese training dojo and taking on a whole class of Japanese martial arts students before tossing their sensei around like a rag doll and literally making them eat their words about the Chinese, Bruce showcases the incredible martial arts skills which have secured his place in history as an internationally famous legend and icon.
