Lever only locks blade in open position.
Locking safety lever only locks when blade is open. Has good feel in hand. Could be a little easier to open, but probably with some use it may improve. Seems to be of good quality and build. It would be nice if they made this with spring assist.

Well worth it
Works great and sharp right out of the box. I like the Tanto blade and the lock works great and releases when you want it to with intentional ease.

First one was a dud. Replacement was very good.
Updated review of replacement knife: The replacement knife has none of the issues that the 1st knife had. Action is good, lock up is good, the secondary lock makes more contact and the leaf spring pushes down like it should to disengage the lock. I'm happy with this purchase now. Original Review of 1st knife: This is my first Cold Steel knife. Out of the box it was very sharp as expected. The action was slow for a knife running on bearings. The scales and liners on this are very thin/flimsy but I was aware of that before I purchased. I discovered right away that the lock didn't fully engage with any consistency. It appears that when fully engaged the liner lock is at about 30%. When it doesn't fully engage it is at about a 10%-15%. Out of roughly 20 blade deployments, it didn't fully engage more than half of the attempts. When it did fully engage it was very difficult to push the spring down so that I could lower the blade. More difficult than any liner lock should be. Others have commented on this problem but I've also seen reviews where owners do not have that issue. It seems some of these have this issue and others don't. With the blade open, the secondary lock does not completely stop the liner lock from moving . It does prevent the blade from closing but you can still move the liner lock down from the "normal" lock-up (30%) to what I'm estimating to be 10%-15%. It appears the secondary lock only makes contact with the underside of the liner lock at the very rear of the secondary lock leaving about a 90% gap in contact between both. This is why I'm still able to push the liner lock down with the secondary lock engaged. I do not have any confidence in the liner lock of the knife I received and I don't believe it's really safe to use. So I have initiated a return and replacement from Amazon. I will update this review once the replacement arrives and has been inspected.

Great Value for the Money
Coming from Cold Steel, it is a rarity to find one of their knives so economically priced. I find this knife aesthetically pleasing. I also like the grip texture. It lock when opened which seems like over kill, but it's not a deal breaker; liner lock works just fine. Sure the bolsters are plastic but this lends to very same shade of grey. . Great value for the money. I wouldn't pass this one up.

Good value well built
Just the right size for a versatile every day carry knife. Excellent edge and nice geometry. Hard to beat for the price. A little stiff to open but after about an hour of flipping it open and closed its much easier to open and close.

Perfect folding tanto for everyday carry, and at a better price than the catalog
Perfect everyday carry. Excellent fit and finish like only Cold Steel can deliver. Love a folding tanto, especially one with this draw speed and concealability.

Too much plastic
First of all, I love Cold Steel and have several of their knives that I absolutely love. One over 25 years old I carried while serving in Iraq and it's still incredible. This one doesn't live up to my expectations from the company. The plastic ends look like something from the dollar store not even rounded. It took a lot of oil and working to get it to deploy smoothly with a flick of the finger. My 12 dollar Walmart Kershaw was much smoother and quick. The liner lock engages so hard you have to use two hands to release the blade to fold. All in all disappointed as compared to other offering from this company. If it was more then the $35 I spent on it, I would have returned it. The only redeeming thing raising this to 3 stars was the thickness of the blade and quality of steel.

Disappointed
I bought 4 and all of them open extremely slow, they almost don't even have enough spring to auto open the knife. I returned all of them. Not sure if it’s a Cold Steel design issue or something else.
