Lights don’t work
Got for my daughter for Christmas. She enjoyed creating shapes and then grorr we inch crystals but when it came time to put it all together, the lights didn’t work. She was so bummed to not get to use it like a little lantern.

Some Flaws But Still Fun
Update: After about five days my lizard has hardly any crystals growing. Very disappointing! I may play around with the concentration. According to the instructions the three scoops per container is obviously not strong enough to produce a good amount of crystals. My biggest complaint is that the container included (for crystal solution) is not as large as the instructions state. It should be a 2 cup container and much wider than the one included in my kit which is narrow and holds a little less than 1.5 cups. It makes positioning your pipe cleaner creature much more difficult and it isn't quite deep enough to keep it submerged. Crystals are forming after about 12 hours (second photo.) This will take some parental help since it involves boiling water and tying your creature to the popsicle stick. Other than that it is pretty simple to do. My advice is to find your own 2 cup container to make it a little less of a headache.

Fun gift for younger kids
My five year old absolutely love this project. The kit included everything. Adult supervison is a must since we have to use hot boil water. Hot boil water is the key point whether crystal is gonna form successfully. The manual's picture is not the best though. They are tiny, so I had to really concentrate to see the color. We end up being creative and choose our own color. The ruler on the picture tells the measurement of the pipe cleaner. I found it hard to read that part. Other than that. This is one of the best actvitiy that I like to do with my child. The solution form the crystal within 12 hour. The result came out very nicely. Note that you can only put one project in the solution at a time. There are tons of powder for creating different project. To put battery in the lamp, Mini screwdriver is needed. I am glad I kept all the screwdriver from other projects. The lantern looks gorgeous.

Fun to make
While this is a great craft, I find that you make need to improvise on some things. The containers that they give you to grow the crystals are too small. You made need to use your own. Also this craft does require and adult has you need to use boiling water. The crystals do need time to grow, patience is going to be need. All in all I thing kids will have fun with this craft.
