Similar Game Play as the Other Animal Crossing Titles, Still as Charming as Ever
It's been well over ten years since I've last played Animal Crossing, and because my kid recently got a New Nintendo 3DS XL - Pikachu Yellow Edition , I figured Animal Crossing: New Leaf would be a nice non competitive (ie - I won't get screamed at for totally beating her/bored because I have to hold back) game for us to play together or solo whenever one of us is doing something else. While the town now has a few added areas of play and more accessories to play with in comparison to the original game, the overall game play is the same in comparison to the older Animal Crossing games - your character moves into the city that you choose and name, and you spend your days however you choose. You can fish, collect flowers or shells, catch bugs, decorate your house and town, run errands for your townsfolk, or just hang out writing letters. This game doesn't have particular goals in which you have to do in order to move along game play. There are a few goals you can set for yourself, such as earn enough money to pay off and expand your house or collect all the items for the museum, but it's not necessary. This is definitely a nice slow paced game that you pass time with. This game is played in real time set to your Nintendo DS's clock, so whatever time and date you have set to your DS, it will be the same time and date within the game. You can have multiple friends/family members live in one town, or if you buy two copies of this game, you can create and visit each other's own unique towns. Both of my kids and I have our own houses within the single town we created, and each of us can decorate our own houses without the others mucking each other's up.In comparison to the older game, the graphics look the same, but are little less grainy and move much more smoothly. One of the biggest differences/perk to this new game is the use of the Amiibos and additional game cards that you can scan with this game. The Amiibos and cards unlock special items to the game as well as invites specific visitors to your town. This game includes one card, so you can have whatever character on your card visit your town. I received a character in an RV which subsequently visited my town's little RV park to sell items.Overall, if you're looking for a slower paced "slice of life" type game, this a fun one to consider. It's strangely addicting to play, and the animal neighbors are as cute as ever.

I thought this game would be trash, but...
I thought this game was going to be a tedious trash chore game - and it is, in a way, definitely a chore to check in on your residents and make money. I only got it because a friend wanted me to and it was only $20. But there's something really relaxing about it and I haven't put it down since I got it one month ago. It's definitely not a game for everyone, but if you like doing monotonous tasks over and over for ample reward like I do (runescape), this game is for you.The amiibo update is great, it's nice to see a game like Animal Crossing getting so much attention this far into its life (I think it was released in 2012 originally) and if you get this game, I recommend getting at least one pack of their new amiibo cards to go with it (the welcome amiibo set) just for that extra layer of entertainment. The cards let you send the character on it to the campground where you can ask them to move into your town or buy an item from them that you can only get from the cards. Plus, you can kick out any villager of your choice if your town is full. There are only two major qualms I have with this game, the first is in regards to laying customized tiles - an extremely tedious process as you lay them down essentially one at a time or in a 3x3 grid if you mash the drop tile button over and over. The worst part is no items can land on the tiles and picking up an item nearby a tile is the same button to kick a tile into oblivion - in other words, a lot of tiles disappear when you're just trying to pick up a nearby item... Second, people who visit your town from both local wireless and internet have the ability to destroy your town, ransack it, and plus hit your villagers in the head with a net (which doesn't actually do any harm, it's just mean, ya know?) I'm not sure why they didn't make one simple update that could have fixed both these problems: putting the town into builder mode. If your town is in builder mode, you should be able to kick tiles, chop trees, and do work on your town. if it's shut off, nobody should be able to change the town. No kicking random tiles when you're just trying to grab a pear off the ground, and no strangers chopping down all your trees, forcing you to turn off the game to reset (and then deal with resetti....) I hope and pray they continue giving this game this much attention and add some kind of builder mode or another solution to those two major problems.Aside from that, it's a great game and it has a lot more to it than I expected. Every day I discover something new I can do, buy, expand, or collect. The game's multiplayer is great as well and I highly recommend it with a friend you trust won't cut down your trees when you aren't looking. But be warned: if you're using a shoddy internet connection and you disconnect during the multiplayer session, it will treat it as a soft reset and you'll lose your progress since the multiplayer session started or you last saved (so have whoever's town you're in save frequently since they have the power to do so). And when you're on the island fishing or catching bugs for money you can save by doing an island tour every inventory or so. Anyway, I'm going to go play it now. I hope this was helpful for anyone on the fence - just get it. It's only 20 bucks and if you don't like it just give it to someone you think will enjoy it!EDIT: Over two years later I have 700+ hours logged and still play it on a weekly, if not daily, basis. Unfortunately, the amiibo cards are out of production and quite expensive now. Still a great game though and I'm looking forward to see what the Switch game will bring to the franchise.

Long-time Nintendo Fan, Highly Recommend Animal Crossing for All Ages!
Who doesn't love Animal Crossing. As an avid Nintendo fan since I was in grade school, and an Animal Crossing Wild World fan, I am absolutely in love with this game. Personally, I believe that this is the best installment of Animal Crossing that I have seen and played so far, and am very impressed with the graphics, the events, amiibo card compatibility, the public works projects, the campsite, and all of the new characters and add-ons that come with Animal Crossing New Leaf. This game is a new installment, with you as the mayor of your own town, but has the same core aspects of the older Animal Crossing games, giving old fans of the game nostalgia in the best ways. Whether you are a young Nintendo 3ds owner, a 21 year old gamer (like me), or a middle-aged parent/gamer at heart, Animal Crossing New Leaf is fun for all ages, and certainly an addictive, everyday play that never gets old. I highly recommend this game, and at this great price, who could pass it up?

It is an American copy of Welcome Amiibo that works in American New 3DS XL.
Nintendo does this thing where specific copies of a game are made for specific regions and cannot be played on non-regional consoles. So I was worried that this wouldn’t work on my American New Nintendo 3DS XL, but it was the correct one.The game is great… BUT… there is no free Amiibo card included like advertised. (It’s a minor issue, but still deceptive advertisement)Absolutely worth it, I’ve made sure to bring my 3DS with me to college every day so I can play animal crossing between classes.

AC..new leaf...a must have virtual life game...
What can I say..it's animal crossings...lol I got the update which gives extra stuff, adds to the game and you can use amibo figuring or amibo cards. .. I use the cards myself. I've been playing animal crossing ever since it came out for the gamecube. It's a really good game to go full retard in..and get away with it...lol and I like the internet part too cos you get to go to other towns and get new stuff and new fruits. It's just a very good game to get into..and there's lots to do in it as well.
