I just got this chair, so I can comment on how well it holds up over time. It was easy to put together.

Updated review 11/26/2016. If I could get the gas cylinder out, I'd still be using this chair. Gas cylinder lasts for about 11 months, very tough to get out. Tried a rubber mallet. Tried a hammer and a wood block. One sledgehammer later it came out. Replacement was a universal cylinder, the cylinder used isn't universal. Replacing this chair with a different model. Considering buying a pvc pipe in order to keep the chair at its height with less pressure on the gas cylinder. If you buy this chair, I recommend greasing the hole of the wheel base that you put the gas cylinder in, otherwise I hope you never need to use this chair outside of its lowest setting.

I have an issue with office chairs. I'm a "big and tall" guy, and thus tend to break them. My office allowed me to search for a chair that would fit both my durability as well as comfort needs. We purchased this chair roughly six months ago. This chair is built like a tank. All the important structure pieces are made out of heavy duty metal except the casters themselves. The casters are made out of plastic, but are a much thicker plastic than most "normal" office chairs. The arms go up and down, and the gas cylinder that holds the chair at the desired height has yet to fail me. The tilt (reclining) feature is lockable at the neutral position, but when unlocked, it takes just the right amount of tension to lean it back. I've had some chairs that have little to no resistance when leaning. This one is easy to lean to the desired angle. (it stops at about 45 degrees tilt.) As for comfort, I use this chair 8 hours a day with little to no fatigue. Every now and then I need to get up and take a walk, but that's more for my sanity than comfort. I'm considering buying one for my desk chair at home too.

Good quality chair. My only complaint is that when it arrived, the box was slightly open and two bolts were missing. Had to get replacements from the local hardware store. No problem, it went together easily and is very sturdy.

I assembled the chair, but, yeah, it takes some effort to get the back joined to the seat, as you have to apply lateral pressure - they're both padded pretty well, so you have to press the back bracket towards the front of the seat while getting the bolts into place. Other than that, though, assembly is straightforward, and the only tool you need (a hex wrench) is provided. The chair is wide enough to be comfortable, and the armrests are spacious. The base is welded steel throughout, all the way to the casters, and rolling in this chair across a hardwood floor is a pleasure. The seat's quite comfortable, and the waterfall padding does help. The back's cushy and, for us shorter, wider folks, provides suitable support. The chair provides seat height, armrest height, and tilt with tilt tension adjustments. It does not have a back height adjustment (which is going to present a problem for tall folks - I'd recommend this chair if you're 6' or less, but no taller than that) or seat angle adjustment, however. If you don't need the features of an executive chair, but you do need the reassurance of a chair meant to support heavier people, this is a pretty good purchase. Update: Well, I've owned the chair for some time now, and I can tell you that, well, it's not for the long haul, folks. The cylinder's gone - I'm actually online right now to order another cylinder so I can repair this chair - and the seat cushioning gave out about a year or so into use, which is why I use a supplemental seat cushion. So, my rating has gone from four to two stars. The chair is roomy, but the comfort and utility is illusory and ephemeral. If you buy this, ensure that you buy an extra seat cushion (memory foam is lovely these days) and a heavy duty cylinder to replace the one that comes with this chair when it inevitably fails. Another update: The new cylinder arrived, but it's a waste of time. The legs, casters, and housing are one piece, which isn't that much of a problem except that there's a bearing ring at the bottom of that assembly - and it's split. Now disassembled, there's no way to safely reassemble it without replacing the bearings as well. I think I'm just going to get a different chair - I don't want to sink any more time or money into this thing. It's now one star, because it cannot be easily repaired, either.
