Bakers POV: Great tasting, great ingredients, decent price for quality ingredients
From a bakers POV: Great product for the type of icing that it is. If you are expecting a real sweet, buttercream type icing like you buy in stores, this is not it. But the ingredients are top notch and very good flavor. The icing needs to be mixed in a mixer before using though. Suggest pairing with the matching cake mix. If you are looking to color this icing into a dark color, you may have some issues. I was trying to achieve a darker red (using Watkins all natural coloring with no artificial dyes) and was unable to get it as dark as I had hoped. But still turned out good. Fair price for the quality of ingredients. However, I would suggest buying more than one container if you are doing anything larger than a double layer 6” or hoping to have a healthy amount of icing on a cupcake. Picture attached shows top of mushroom being the cake and icing used. Over all, I was very pleased! And so was the client.

you for sure have to let this soften to room temperature!
You absolutely have to let this product (vanilla frosting) soften to room temperature after you open and refrigerate it. I really like it! To me it tastes exactly like the middle of an oreo cookie. I used it to frost carob brownies that I had not put very much sugar in. It IS sweet but it totally worked for me. I am very happy with this product and can see adding other flavors (lemon, orange, peppermint) in the future. It is not very vanilla-y so I might add some extra vanilla in next time I use it.

Good icing!
Good icing! I liked the flavor. A little hard to spread. I added a little warm water and it worked much better. Great for my Birthday cake. I used the Simply Mills white cake mix and Enjoy Life chocolate chips. My kids and husband even liked it! First birthday cake since I went on a Paleo diet and lost 112 lbs. Would have given a 5 star but it was hard to spread. It spread in lumps and fell apart.

Delicious and simple frosting that I feel better about serving to my kids.
Baked a cake tonight and we had the option of the Duncan Hines epic fruity pebbles frosting or the simple mills vanilla. I tried both before adding it to the cake and hands down, the simple mills won! The flavor was amazing and not too sweet. It didn’t have an artificial flavor like you find in most store bought frostings. I will choose this brand from now on. The texture at first was a little weird to spread but it worked out beautifully and became very smooth. Wish I had taken a picture!

Dairy free frosting that tastes good
Dairy free chocolate frosting that actually tastes good. I thought it tasted like chocolate but not artificial like some other dairy free chocolate products I've tried. I used this on cupcakes made from the chocolate muffin/cupcake mix by the same brand. The frosting was easy to spread at room temperature, but it definitely hardened in the refrigerator. I expected the texture change in the fridge because there are no additives or preservatives. I just let the cupcakes sit a few minutes to warm up and did not have a problem. I have already bought this again to keep on hand. I have tried multiple products by this brand and have loved all of them.

A bit greasy
Because this is made largely with oils. you have to expect it to be a bit greasy. However I blend it with either whipped meringue powder or with a cooked mixture of milk and flour that has cooled. It is a healthy alternative to the soy-based and other chemical inclusive frostings. As it is it is too thick and will tear your cake, so I'd whip it up first and add a little cream or milk to get it to the desired consistency. Most important to me is that is it made with healthy ingredients that I can feel good about people consuming, and that it can be whipped with other safe ingredients to create a great, creamy frosting.

I am literally so sad they discontinued this
we LOVE simple mills frosting! It tastes so good and is easy to use. We have always used it in combination with their muffins and brownies and it's a hit with my kids every time. I am so sad they have discontinued it especially because the ingredients are so clean.

Simply Nasty
This crap is NASTY. Do you like wax? Because eating this stuff is like eating candle wax with some grainy sugar added. You are disheartened as you peel back the "freshness seal" only to discover it's congealed coconut oil with a little cheap sweetness added. I'm serious lady, this is NASTY! Two tastes to be sure and I threw the whole thing in the trash. One star on Amazon means you hate it, no human being would enjoy consuming this, and the texture is like a slightly warm crayon at best. Sorry to the folks at Simple Mills, but this ain't frosting. There is now pillowy sugary goodness or subtle hints of cocoa or vanilla... This is ground candle wax with sugar and it's outright nasty.
