6 1/2" tall, 5 1/2" wide This spectacular vase will make a statment and create conversation wherever it is placed in your home...or it will make for a treasured gift for any special occaision. I threw the piece on the wheel with Grolleg porcelain, carved the rim like the opening of a flower, and then burnished it well with a fine terra sigillata before bisque firing. I then coated the piece with ferric chloride and painted orchids on it by a special method taught to me by a dear friend before saggar firing it with various combustible materials to achieve the phenomenal colors and effects. I absoluetly love this process and the elemental qualities and colors it produces! This pot has been sealed with an acrylic sealer for durability and protection. This piece was low fired so it is porous and not food safe or water tight. It has been sealed inside but still requires a plastic liner if used for fresh flowers. It displays beautifully on its own or is complimented with silk or dried flowers. The wooden base is sold separately for $20.
