Easy to install and looks great!
This review is for two products I purchased from BuyDecorativeFilm: One Way Mirror Window Film Silver-Silver 35% VLT 36"(w) X 6 Ft(l) and Decorative Window Film Blind Plus 36"(w)x3ft(l) These products are great, and the results are even better than I expected. I used the window film that looks like vertical blinds and installed that onto the windows first. After that, I put the one way silver window mirror film on top of the other film to add some extra privacy. It was an experiment, because I was not sure you could layer the film on top of another window film. It worked great, as long as I used more of the soap/water spray for the second layer, to make it easy to lift, and to correct any mistakes I made along the way. I purchased this window film for some small older windows on the side of my house that was built in 1920. The window glass is only 17 1/2 x 25 1/2" and the windows are higher on the wall, about 10 inches from my living room ceiling. One of the windows is above a tall cat tree/tower in the living room, and I wanted privacy, but I wanted to let the light in and allow my cats to sunbathe and look outside while they're on the top level of the cat tree. The second window is above an entertainment center, and without any window covering, it would be easy to see into my windows from the neighbor's house (our houses are only about 15 feet away from each other). Instead of waiting until my husband got home and having him help me move the TV and entertainment center, I used a two-step stool to reach the second window, while leaning over the entertainment center. I was surprised at how easy and fast the window film was to install, even from such an awkward angle. I've had my house for 17 years and until today I hadn't found the right solution for these tricky little windows. The windows are such a strange size; it was hard to find the right product to fit, add privacy, and look nice. In the past, I've tried using sheers and lace curtains on those small windows, but my cats would always get hair on them, and even sometimes get their claws stuck and cause snags. Mini-blinds could also pose a hazard as the cats could become tangled in the pull-string. I also tried the stick-on temp blinds, but those are opaque and the adhesive caused the product to get stuck on the window frame and lifted off paint when I removed them. Today, the perfect solution was the blind film, with the mirror film on top of that. To finish the project, I added a short valance that covers the upper portion of the windows. I am beyond pleased with BuyDecorativeFilm and their products.

Newbie experience - not too bad
I recently moved to a new house in Texas where heat is an issue. My bedroom windows face east so the morning can get pretty hot, and as the thermostat is not in the bedroom, even though my AC is set to a comfortable temp, my bedroom still heats up. I started looking for options to reduce the heat and came across several brands of film. I decided to go with BDF based on their training videos, as I had never done this before and was a bit intimidated by the installation process. I also compared the efficiency that different brands claim for heat reduction, and all seemed similar. Installation process: As a newbie, I felt that the first window that I treated took me a while to get right. I messed up while removing the backing but was able to salvage the film. As I progressed, I noticed how my skill was getting better and that I had. If you are new to this process, it's almost certain that you'll mess up the first (and maybe second) installation, but once you get the hang of it, you'll get comfortable and efficient. I have a couple of room thermometers, and I did see a difference in my bedroom of around 5 degrees, so, for me, this product worked great. Note: while I was doing research, I read complaints about how you might leave bubbles between the window and film. This does happen a little bit, but as time passes and heat evaporates the remaining liquid, the bubbles disappear. Also, the squeegee tool that comes with the film is excellent, as it has a hard edge for corners, and a cloth edge to have a smooth sliding experience without damaging the film. Now I can't even tell the film is there. I will buy more film to apply to the rest of my house.

MIRROR - Medium tint
Ok. The Medium Tint. It’s barley noticeable on the avg day. However when it’s sunny you’ll see the mirror tint slightly. You can’t even tell at night walking by there’s any tint installed Very Dark. This is super mirror no matter day or night. This shows a lot more dirt on the window therefore, I have to wash my windows quite a bit more. Look. don’t be cheap and make sure you buy a Tint- kit that has a proper tools to do the job or you’re not gonna get good results. A basic squeegee is not gonna cut it. Basic credit card is not gonna cut it. Get the correct tools and it’ll make your job look professional.

Helps with heat
Good product! I installed it about a month ago; we’ll see how well it does over time. Just take your time and make sure to card the windows a few times to get all of the air out. I found it easier to use a factory edge on the inside of one window edge and then cut to fit on the other 3 edges

Easy to Install, looks good, but not very effective.
This film has good feel and is packaged well, included accessories are also adequate. The installation was easy and it looks great. However as far heat rejection goes it doesn’t do much. I installed this on a sliding glass patio door that is exposed to direct sunlight in the evening. I have exterior and interior temperature readings and have only seen a delta of 2-3 degrees with and without. Works but honestly not really noticeable or worth the price.

Poor quality.
2 stars because of install, and only install. This is not the first time I've installed tint, far from it, but it will be the last time I use this brand. I really want to believe I got a poor quality roll because I've never had issues with this brand before, but it was a different story today. After using an extremely slick and soapy solution and properly removing bubbles I found that a number of crinkles already ingrained into the film before I had even cut to size were still present. I had hoped they'd go away after the tint had set but I was not that fortunate.

You can see inside very well, not working at all. I had to pay to return the item. Very poor customer service also, after taking a long time they decided not to reimburse at all, even thought I was open to try another product.

The instructions fail to mention multiple important factors, including 1. Static cling is very strong and will immediately pose a problem, even before you're able to wet anything down. 2. The backing film is much, much harder to remove than what is portrayed in the instructional video on this product page. 3. You should not do this on a hot, sunny day. If you run into any issues at all, especially the film clinging to itself as you line it up with your window, it'll take time to adjust and your water will evaporate before you're able to finish, leaving you with a bigger problem as the film clings to itself persistently. Do this on a cool, cloudy or rainy day, giving you time to make mistakes and recover. 4. If you're working with a larger film then you should only remove part of the backing film at a time. Removing it all will cause it to fold in on and cling to itself. The section that you detach from the backing film should be big enough to control/support fully and big enough to cling while you detach the next section of your film from the backing film. Someone else with more experience may be able to offer specific recommendations on how much length you should handle at a time. 5. You might want some kind of stiff backing material to maintain shape as you lift this up to your window. The film is very flexible and will deform, clinging to itself if not supported. 6. You'll absolutely want a large, flat surface to work on. Do not leave this film unsupported at any point, including when lifting it up to place it on your window. I'm not sure what kind of tooling would be appropriate for this, but *something* is absolutely necessary here. Lastly, I want to clarify that you spray the film to *deactivate* the glue. Its adhesive is very much active immediately upon being exposed by removing the backing film and you're gambling every second that adhesive is unwetted and exposed on this soft, flexible film loaded with static charge and desperately trying to cling to itself. Overall, I'm unhappy with this product and regret buying it. I take some responsibility from my lack of experience in working with window films like this, hence why I'm giving it two stars instead of one, but re-watching this product page's instructional video, it seems misleading to me. The film itself seems like it could work, but given my experience, I'd be inclined to pay a professional for a film this large instead.
