This product is exactly as specified and has great value with the included chalk ball filled with chalk. The chalk bag also has a few softly lined, zippered pockets in addition to the large drawstring pocket.I hate to have to say my drawstring was hung up on some escess material inside the lining of the bag instead of being looped around the main pocket of the bag. This was fixed by running the string around the main pocket with a piece of wire. A quick and simple fix anyone could do.I sent a message to valley goods and they immediately replied addressing my concerns and gave a partial refund without even being asked!Although my bag had a small issue with quality control, I give this bag a 5 star review for the quality of the bag despite this small issue and because of the great support valley goods has for their customers!Thank you for the great product and service!Edit: I was already credited $5 back. For a 20 min fix. I cannot stress enough how great their service is! Great first impression now. Definitely 5 star worthy!

So I have really gotten into gym climbing over the past year, prompting me to buy my own gear and this is my last addition to my climbing equipment. If you are needing some guidance on what kind of equipment to buy from shoes to belay devices to chalk, REI has some very helpful articles on the subject. After some study, a chalk ball seemed the way to go and this bag comes with a refillable chalk ball bag which I was looking to buy separately. The bag itself is well made with plenty of pockets. For the whole package, super great value. I am not using the waist strap in the near future, but I may someday. It slides off easy and I just folded it up and stuck it in one of the pockets not to lose it while I just have the chalk bag clipped onto my harness with the mini carabineer that comes with it. Package came on time with Prime and in great condition. Very happy with my purchase and would buy again.

Good product and serves its purpose, but..........I was expecting it to hold its shape on its own a little better. I use this at the gym for barbell training, and this definitely doesn't hold its shape at all. Its very soft sided and just flops around. Which is fine, I just have to make sure I close it after each use so it doesn't spill caulk on the floor of the gym. For climbers that attach the bag to their harness, this is probably not an issue at all. Also, something to note is that the belt is pretty flimsy. Not sure I'd want to use it.Otherwise a very good product. The build is of sufficient quality. The zippered pockets are actually bigger than I was expecting. The draw string works perfectly for sealing the bag and keeping the chalk in.

The only question is the long-term durability, and that's just because it takes time and wear to truly test it! From what I can tell, it is sturdily well-made, and I am optimistic about the life span of this bag. Everything else checks out:Ease of use - Slightly larger than most so that it holds more chalk and is easy to jam a hand into, but not so big that it is cumbersome. The waist belt is also easy to adjust, something I've definitely struggled with my previous bags. Finally, the carabiner clip is a quick and painless way to carry the bag on your harness.Pockets - Carry your phone or camera to the top of a climb to capture the beautiful view!Value - The chalk ball is a $5 value at least. The bag itself is already a good deal at $15!

This is my first chalk bag so I have nothing to compare it to but for the price it seems great. I don't use the strap as I have only taken it bouldering at the gym. There are two pockets which fit my smartphone (with a large case) in one and my keys and a roll of athletic tape in the other so I can keep them close by. The cubby holes at the gym are out of site from some areas and could be prone to theft so it's nice to have a spot to store my valuables where I can keep an eye on them while climbing. I like that the chalk bag is reusable and it comes with chalk so you don't have to buy anything else. I haven't used other types of chalk so I can't speak to the relative quality but this is a finely powdered chalk and made a huge difference compared to not using any. My hands are taking much less of a beating and I can climb longer due to having better grip on the rocks.When I first got the bag, I pulled the closure and it did not close at the top. That's because the loop inside had slipped around the inner fleece bag which is the part that is supposed to closed. This was easily fixed by loosening the cord and pulling the fleece liner all the way out to allow the cord to rest around the perimeter of the bag. Then I pushed the liner back in and cinched it up. Closed up perfectly. Since this was such an easy and obvious fix I still give it 5 stars.

I’m a relatively new climber who’s starting to get serious, so this is the first chalk ball I’ve ordered, primarily because it came with the sock. After it was delivered, Valley themselves messaged me, asking if I liked it. I told them about my small gripe with the belt holder breaking really quickly, but that it was a good product otherwise. They immediately sent me another one, free of charge. The second one is much sturdier, and is something I would recommend to newer climbers such as myself.Overall, for $16.99 shipped to my door, alongside great customer service, I’m quite happy with it. This is definitely the go to for a the aspiring new climber.

I would not recommend this chalk bag. I bought this last year when I first started climbing, and within a few months of use, the cheap drawstring not only fell out so I could no longer cinch it together, but the threads were tearing already as well. Additionally, the larger buckle strap that goes around your waist is very cheaply made and hangs loosely while you're climbing, and there's no zip pocket unlike other chalk bags. I spent 20$ to buy a much nicer bag at my climbing gym, and it was definitely worth the upgrade.
