captivating!
I read the previous book in 2 days, wow, I lost my sleep. Well, I read this one in one day! Wow indeed! The whole story of mytica and beyond is interesting and it gets better as Rhodes adds more depth to it. Frankly, the first book looks almost like a stand-alone which went really well and the writer had to adapt and fill in the blanks, add more depth to the story of the watchers and the kindred. If you compare it with Sanderson’s works, it feels lacking, I know, but the truth is that the main storyline is not the most captivating part of this book series. This series is all about its protagonists and their evolution. Frankly, this book is a love story about Magnus and Cleo. It’s brewing for a long time, patiently and we keep waiting and waiting to see how it will turn out.I liked the way their part was handled, I enjoyed it a lot and it really kept me going and going. Thankfully, there was some Algalon parts that helped me stop for basic needs and tasks! So, you read this and you can’t stop reading, the story has a good depth and makes you want to read more and more and the characters are also pretty darn cool. I like the fact that this is no easy book in terms of who lives and who dies, but it’s no game of thrones, it’s far more forgiving to its characters.5/5 from me, I enjoyed this with all my heart

Great sequel!
GAAHHHHH *my brain comprehending that ending*Another one bites the dust.Literally and figuratively.SPOILERS!!!!!you've been warned. This fourth book is explosive! So much character growth! So much world building, revelations, and hatred! But in that hatred there is love and the blossoming love between Magnus and Cleo is a precious thing. Magnus continues to grow as a person, a prince learning how to run a court on his own, and becomes a more independent character. Cleo is determined, brave, and continues to be relatable as a princess in a rough situation. She is constantly torn by her growing feelings for someone who has murdered someone she loved and wanting to believe in his vision for a better Mytica, which she agrees with.I wish there was more banter between them but it also feels like there is enough interaction between them as well to back their growing feelings. I just honestly love every scene and POV of them together and when they are separated too.I have two negatives: Nic and Lucia. You would think I would say Amara with her being murderous vindictive creature but no... I do not like Nic and think he should have died a long time ago (he's still alive and just a boring character with no growth). He continues to say things but never backs up his words enough. I'm hoping he will be a sacrifice soon. Though I'm soon he won't cause all the people I do like keep dying on me.Lucia is on her own and had made an agreement with Kyan (the Fire Kindred) to help him find the opening to the Sanctuary and also find his brother and sisters (the water, Air, and earth kindreds).[Currently Cleo/Magnus has Earth, King Gaius has Air, and Amara has water.]I understood for a while why Lucia was/is so naive and constantly puts her faith in others instead of doing things herself. With her upbringing and learning more and more things about her past family and herself... I get why she would want to cling to the nearest person who gives her information or some sort of attention/encouragement on her magical abilities. With that said, she believes almost everything someone bad will say and then is super flippin shocked when she has been "used/betrayed" by those she trusted. Lucia is constantly misguided and you would think she would flippin learn already! But no she does not, and that is why I can't stand this character.I understand making that mistake maybe once or twice so you can learn and grow but Lucia doesn't learn from her mistakes. She doesn't take much control in her fate. She follows blindly and, like I said, is shocked when things don't happen properly or whatever. I know she's only sixteen years old but so is Cleo. Cleo doesn't act like a child and stomp her feet if shit gets real whereas Lucia only relies on her magic to be "fierce/brave" and acts like a murderous child if things don't go her way.[And don't come at me with "what if she were a dude doing the same thing?" Eff that. I'd still be just as passed off at the character. ]Right now I hate Lucia. I can't tolerate Nic anymore. I feel like Jonas still needs to grow and still goes through the same process each book but doesn't grow much.I'm not a fan of Amara but I like her story arc as a villain and the way Rhodes wrote her character is intriguing. Why did I give this book 5 stars if I'm this mad at a few characters? Magnus and Cleo and the fact that I read this book in a few hours. I absolutely LOVE their growth throughout this whole book. Magnus is my favorite and reminds me so much of Kylo Ren's arc in Star Wars. From where they started off to where these characters are at now is perfect and I'm so worried about the next two books.... aahhhhh5 stars for M and C and Morgan Rhodes's writing!

It just keeps getting BETTER and BETTER!!!
I don’t know if there’s ever been a series that’s held me in so much awe before! Morgan Rhodes is a mastermind and (evil) genius when it comes to this series! Each and every book has been epic and incredible and held me in its thrall until the very (cliffhanger filled) end! Frozen Tides is no different in that sense! It was epically amazing and awesome and ooooooomg the feels!! The feels just keep getting stronger with this series and I am left an emotional mess!In this adventure we see Lucia teaming up with the fire god to help rescue his siblings and exact vengeance on the one who did it. Meanwhile Cleo and Jonas are still trying to plan their revenge on the King of Blood and get Cleo her kingdom back. Then we still have Amara who’s plotting and scheming, truly things are devious and bloody all around!Every book in this series has just been so incredible that I am literally left speechless when it comes to review time! Initially I had thought that all the different chapters with different points of view would make it harder to connect to the characters or enjoy the story, but oh that is such a silly thing to think on now! Each character truly does have a lot going on for them, so the constant shifting around lets us see what each individual is doing and what all is going on with them. Sometimes the chapter might end with a mind numbing cliffhanger, other times it’s sort of a nice pause! And just when I think I don’t want to leave a certain character’s head, I’m thrust onto the new one and am totally immersed with what’s happening there! It sounds a little chaotic, but trust me, it’s a good kind of chaos! And just when you think Morgan has totally gutted you with all that’s happened to our characters up until this book…whooo boy, are you in for a doozie with this one! Things I can’t say HAPPEN! Lots of things! Some good. Some not so good. And more than a few were of the jaw dropping variety. And yes there is still romance to be had in this one! It’s the best kind of romance too, because you’d think that there wouldn’t be time for such things with all the things going on, but Morgan somehow manages to slip some in between all these events. Romance for more than one set of characters too. And after the wonders that was Gathering Darkness when we start to see Magnus chisel off some of that cold exterior, I was super excited to see something between him and Cleo happening! And while I would love to make further comment on that, I won’t! Then there’s Jonas too! I admit, in the second book or possibly the first one too, I was totally cool with Jonas and Cleo hooking up, but they were always separated. And then Lys comes into the picture and it became exceedingly hard who I would want to see Jonas with. And it seems he was struggling too, because when he would have a moment with Girl A, I’d think, what happened to your feelings for Girl B? It’s definitely one of those things that can drive you crazy in some sense, as for me, I wasn’t sure who I wanted to see Jonas with. In this scenario I feel like I’d be happy either way…almost. Maybe. I’m not sure! LOL!As I said, this series never ceases to amaze me! There are always such startling revelations that come about! So many little teeny tiny cliffhangers that you hope to see answered in the next chapter or two. And then when you turn the page to see the Acknowledgements you’re left with that earth-shattering revelation that it’s The End. Though for me, I do have the next book waiting, but the very real and near fear that I will be experiencing the exact same thing in a couple of days, only that it will be really real! That there will be no book until NEXT YEAR terrifies me! I’ve already heard word that the new one ends with yet another killer cliffhanger and yes, I am quite terrified! It’s hard to gush too much about Frozen Tides because I don’t want to spoil things for anyone who hasn’t read it. But I will say that it was incredibly epic and I sooooo cannot wait for the next book and the next one! I don’t want to see this series come to an end just yet! It’s so incredibly awesome that every time I have to leave it behind after finishing a book, I am brought to much despair. And with all the little cliffhanger endings that this one left me with, I cannot start the next book soon enough! If you haven’t read Morgan’s books yet, I strongly urge you to correct that! You won’t be sorry! Please join me in my agonizing need next week when I will be dying for book 6!Overall Rating 5/5 stars

I'm Dreading What Happens Next!
This novel hurt. If you have formed any attachment to any character at all, which you should have if you've made it four books in, then this is a painful ride no matter which way you look at it. This fourth instalment treads the line between brave and predictable almost perfectly, with shock events and the occasional expected outcome. In that way it essentially satisfies your need to have what you want, whilst also being happy that the author is brave enough to not give you all of it every time. Now that the elemental crystals are scattered it's really anyone's game. Frozen Tides mostly focuses upon Lucia and Jonas' respective stories, which don't really align but eventually cross, and how any or all of the characters intend to get hold of another or unlock the magic within them. This is, I think, the first novel in the Falling Kingdoms series to actually have all characters interact at some stage throughout the story - and I loved it! There are some really significant moments which change the course of events, but also a complete overhaul of personality types because of those events; I genuinely have no idea where this is going.Once again this series captures my attention completely. I love the characters, the world and the magic and the more of each of those things that Morgan Rhodes introduces, the more I grow to love it. I feel genuine sadness when we lose a character, anger when a character gets burned (sometimes literally!) and true investment in the relationships between them all.Frozen Tides made me laugh and cry. A uniquely brilliant series. I'm dreading what happens next.

a fantastic series of books
Finally got round to reading this! One of the best series out there since Harry Potter. Morgan Rhodes is a fantastic writer that has you instantly engaged with each character but the plot is intense and fast paced without lacking a strong story arc and character progression. Characters I thought I hated, I now love. You discover so much more.Going to re read all the Falling Kingdom books again. Roll on Book 5.

Morgan Rhodes is a genius
Oh my.... what a fantastic ending!I was starting to get frustrated that some stories weren't unfolding when finally, out of nowhere, they did! And how epic the unfolding of events was!I read all the first 4 books in a space of a week! The next 8 months waiting for the next book to be released will be torture!Cannot recommend this book enough!

NOICE!!
Great book great plot. Some of the plot twists are a bit predictable but others caught me completely by surprise. Defiantly worth reading, probably the best yet in the series.
