I work from a home office, and there is nothing I dislike more than a squeaky desk chair. I was replacing my chairs with more heavy duty chairs, and that didn't really seem to solve the problem and it was getting expense. In all fairness, with kids we are a bit rough on them. With my current chair despite how strongly it was built the base was starting to flex. The wheels were no longer aligned and the piston creaked inside the base. So instead of replacing the whole chair which is what I typically did in the past, I purchased this replacement base. I also had to replace the piston because the old piston was stuck inside the old base. This was more than ONE YEAR AGO. I couldn't be happy with this replacement base. It s super strong, there is has been no bending around any of the casters or the piston. Best yet, absolutely no squeaks or other issues. This was a great purchase, it saved me so much money over buying a whole new chair.

It’s fit perfect and was easy to assemble and worked! super happy bout it. if you have a plastic one I would highly recommend you switch it to this one! :)because the plastic ones break easily and you can hurt yourself so I’m happy I made the switch. The most important thing is that it arrived on time. I ordered a similar item from Amazon, and it did not arrive on time. My chair bought them broke. This was a replacement. Anyway it looks very strong and pretty easy to put together. It fit my standard computer chair fine. I will update this review if it breaks or comes loose, but so far I'm very happy with it after about a week of use.

It seems solid, good peices, heavy weight, and it fits my original casters, but you have to put it together which i did not see any information on. We shall see how long the base lasts. I used a drill to put the bolts in instead of the supplied Allen key so the assembly was simple and quick.

Perfect. The spot welded wheel bases on the other two steel bases I've tried broke. This base is designed differently; the wheel bases are perpendicular to the floor and solidly welded. The roller blade wheels I bought for the previously purchased steel base work perfectly in this base on low pile carpet; it's like I'm gliding on butter. And I'm a big guy...400 lbs of me glide effotlessly now.

a lot of this is based on first impressions and only having use of these parts on my chair for like 3 days. I replaced the wheels on my computer chair with the roller blade type wheels. I am having bad luck with these types of wheels. 1 set lost its bearings. 1 set bent and when they bent they broke welds on the chairs base, which lead me to buy this base. as long as I was having it all apart anyway I swapped the piston for an improved version. so... the wheels add about maybe 2 inches to the height of the chair. this base adds a few inches to the height of the chair as its a bit convex in design. also the fitment of the new piston didn't automatically press half of its depth through the hole, so I get full height there too. all of this adds up to being inches taller than my chair used to be and feeling *very solid* a few days in after its install. when I raise the chair to its fullest, because of the piston... its *very high*. nearly bar stool height. I may have miscalculated the size of piston that I needed. I am going into detail about the other parts because they all need to work together. as I learned, if the wheels fail the base could fail. I am not sure I trust any of these parts to sit in this chair at full height just yet. it could be a nasty tumble. so far everything seems legit. the base is easy to put together and everything went together fairly easily. I am being cautious watching for bent parts and broken welds because there is a danger to parts created for a certain budget (or really ANY budget these days). the welders don't always know how to weld (zero penetration on the last base that came with the chair), amazon listing pages promise "overbuilt durability" that I have yet to experience. I don't have anything bad to say but its too soon to sing praises and I remain skeptical. If I need to update this for better or worse, I certainly will.

Item has to be assembled. It was not mentioned in the product description but was easy to assemble.

Excelente base, salvó a mi silla de irse a la basura cuando se rompió la de plástico que tenía

Compre una Steelcase Leap V2 usada que desafortunadamente llego rota de la base haciendo que la llanta se cayera frecuentemente, tras varios intentos fallidos de reparar la parte rota opte por comprar esta base. La base quedo muy bien y se siente de buena calidad me preocupaba que el pistón chocara con el piso pero no es el caso, las llantas originales de mi silla también le quedaron bien, así que en general estoy muy satisfecho.

You need to insert each leg into the base and bolt in with the supplied hardware. No big deal. Works gret for my Effydesk Aerochair.
