Good story
Enjoyed reading the creation of the clans and how the other castes were subjugated and their society created. Interesting to see the brother’s relationship

Everyone is shivering. And Andery is whining.
I didn’t care for this one. The author repeatedly says his characters are shivering. The main character is nearly 50 at the end of the book and he still can’t stick up to his brother. It’s just a tough slog.

Intriguing, but disappointing
While in detail stories of the formations of clans have been a lifetime coming, Andery Kerensky’s character leaves a lot to be desired. The book constantly drives home his distaste of his brothers radical ideas, yet he comes off as a gutless coward forever crying internally about being stuck in the background. I believe a story following Nicholas Kerensky and his internal inspiration would have been far more enjoyable and enlightening for the Battletech universe.

Insightful read.
Strip away the trimmings, cast aside the mystery of the Clans, and experience the work, and pain, that went into forging them into the society they would become. Very powerful...

Never Disappoints ...
Great writer, definitely builds characters with vibrant backgrounds and full details. Fun to fill in all the gaps from the source books and what better way than a series of novels. Can't wait for the next in the series.
