they would do a great job with the standard flat vents
The magnets are really strong. I have a Note phone and they hold the phone in place really well. The reason I gave it four stars and not five, is due to my car - a Rogue. It has the circular vents, we will wait and see how the holder fares with them, they would do a great job with the standard flat vents, but they are a little wobblly with the circular ones.

I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best i've come across
I tried out about 8 different magnetic cell phone mounts before settling on this one. I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best i've come across. The clamping force of the mount to the vent is very unique and works flawlessly without any wiggle. The magnetic force is also very great. I have an iPhone 6 with a fairly smooth case and this mount grips very tightly and the phone does not budge. I would recommend this to anyone!

Phone Holder
The phone mount is perfect for my Samsung galaxy 6.it keeps it firmly in place while I'm driving;at the same time it's eBay to mount on the vent and the phone can easily be placed in it and removed from it .Great product!

It connects to the vent fine without easily falling out
It connects to the vent fine without easily falling out. My vents are not stiff though, so the weight sends them straight down but it still works. The product sticks out a bit more than many others do, but this is because it articulates on a ball joint. I can use this to adjust its angle since my vent does not want that responsibility. But the big problem I have is with the metal plate that comes with it. There were two. A smaller round one and a bigger rectangle. The rectangle is the one I want to use, but there is NO adhesive sticker on it! NONE? The instructions show adhesive on the rectangle. The circle plate has adhesive. This would be fine if it worked to just sit the plate inside my case. But the magnet is not strong enough to penetrate the double layer case on my phone. So I have to remove the hard layer but keep the other layer on. And do the hokey pokey. When that's done is stays on fine. But if it had the adhesive sticker I could just stick it to the outside of my case and no hokey pokey needed.UPDATE: tried the circle with adhesive. It worked fine on my GPS for 2 days. That's all the adhesive kept for. Now it won't stay on longer than 5 min and it's falling off in my way.

EDITED: Surprisingly Good Product!
EDITED REVIEW: So initially I was very confused about how exactly to use the product. There were no actual separate instructions in the box, just what was written on the box itself and therefore trying to understand how to use the pieces was very frustrating.But when I figured it out and tried it in my car I was actually surprised that it held the weight of my phone without any problems. Very pleased!

Can't say I'd buy it again
This would likely work best in a car with a "slide and tilt style" of air vent, rather than one with vents that tip freely and have "rudder"-style blades that move side to side. The magnet was supremely strong, so much that my iPhone will pull the phone mount free of the vent entirely. Makes it easier to move around when I need access to my center console, but is a little annoying.
