The water tastes better with this charcoal in it- it’s kind of sweeter ...
Will briefly go over the pros and possible consPros’1.This is a multifunctional activated charcoal- even though its famous as a water purifier or toxin killer, you could still use it for other purposes2.The water tastes better with this charcoal in it- it’s kind of sweeter and more refreshing.3.It makes me drink more water every day- which in itself is very healthy- exactly because of the point number 2 stated above4.I don’t get abdominal pains after drinking this water- can’t tell the same about almost any other water I tried, including some of the bottled water brands.5.It does have a toxin-eliminating a ph-balancing effects, plus it gets rid of chlorine in the water- yes, all tap water has chlorine in it.6.It enriches water with calcium, iron and magnesium- good for bones and tendons7.Actually healthier than drinking just water- feels to be a better pre- or post- workout drink too8.Good for saving money- it lasts quite long after each replacement.9.Easy to activate and easy to refresh10.This is organic and sustainable product- I mean, what can be more organic than piece of tree baked in village kilns11.Authentic Japanese product- just in case you are into all that Japanese stuff12.I read somewhere (but didn’t have a chance to try myself) that taking baths with this charcoal will make my skin look better and kill some bacteria in my body.13.Really curious about its odor-absorbing capabilities, never tried but sure will do sometime soon.Cons1.Well.. I guess you gonna get addicted to it and need to replenish it over and over2.Also, if you don’t follow instructions you might get it not fully activated and the water will taste weird, or even if it does taste good, it might still be not fully activated, which is something you wanna avoid.3.The portion in this set is a bit small, so you might want to order a few at ones to make sure you got enough before boiling it. This depends on how big your water tanker or pitcher is.4.Depending on how many contaminants are in the water, the lifecycle of the charcoal might vary. I think the best way is to just check how “dirty” water in your area is.As you see I’m rather biased so my “cons” are not really cons, but I feel this item well worth it and you will agree with me once you tried it. It is certainly better then drinking plastic-tasting water from plastic bottles.I recall something similar was trending few years ago and then disappeared from the market. This one seems to be a real deal though- as I saw it coming in all varieties from toothpaste to air purifier. I still think it’s better to buy it in this stick-form and then use according to your needs. I give five star for the water taste, quality and functionality.

Missing my 5...
Super easy to use and it really leaves your water tasting great!. However, I purchased the buy 10 get 15 in a gift pack and didn't receive the additional 5. I would have reviewed this product with a higher score but, I'm missing my 5 extras...

Great product!
Been using and experimenting with different types of charcoals since before Obamacare. This particular KAMIKI BINCHOTAN is probably the best one I ever tried. Biggest disappointments so far been hardwood activated charcoal powder and BRITA- both ineffective and overpriced. Why I like this one is because it doesn’t promise much but does produce significant effects. Activated charcoal uses adsorption by trapping toxins and chemicals in its pores. I find the water with Binchotan to taste sweeter and better. Another magic effect- water feels fresh even after staying in a container overnight- rarely happens with any other type of water, so I’m sure it’s due to Binchotan effects. I use it for both toxin filtration and general detoxification and find the results extremely satisfying. My dietician told me to increase the water intake if I’m going to drink water with activated charcoal on a regular basis- which I did, not sure what’s the theory behind it though. If you think of it- can you really come up with a better and more natural way to clean the water? I do use filters on my tap water, but I find them being less effective compared to these charcoal sticks. For periodic use activated charcoal can also whiten teeth, didn’t use it for THAT long so can’t prove this being true yet. Based on my own experience this is the most reliable way to get clean and tasty drinking water for a cheap price.

the water has a very strong foul chemical taste which is not present in my tap ...
It doesn't work! After 3 days in the carafe now, the water has a very strong foul chemical taste which is not present in my tap water. This is hard to understand since more filtration should be achieved in longer period of time. So far I've been using KISHU charcoal, so I was able to compare the two products at the same time. No mistake here, there is something very wrong with KAMIKI. I will be returning the product. I wanted to try KAMIKI because the pierce was very attractive, or would have been if it worked...Another thing: The listing on Amazon says 2 "stickers", which I understood to be 2 pieces of regular size charcoal. (One regular size stick, 1/4 lb., is good for a 2 qt. pitcher, so for 1 gallon, which is in the description, you will need 2 regular size sticks.) Not so! Got just one 1/4 lb. stick!Unfortunately the information about size of the stick in relation of to the size of the pitcher is not included in the package. I have read earlier, that somebody took the "Buy 10 Get 15 " KAMIKI deal and was complaining of not getting the additional 5 sticks. I wasn't concerned since I was getting only the basic offer, but as it turned out I was a deceived as well.Something is very wrong with the product and the company.

but easy to shake that off or better rinse it if ...
Fast delivery, thumbs up!!! The sticks in the pack are a bit dusty, but easy to shake that off or better rinse it if you plan to use it with water. If you just use them for air purification or smell absorption then just skip this step. I boiled them in a pot for 12 minutes then gave it some time to cool (you must drain the water). Then it’s getting even simpler- I just filled my container with water and placed the charcoal inside. Give it about 4-5 hours for full activation- some people say 2 or 3 hours only- that’s wrong! At least 4 hours!! During this time the charcoal will absorb the impurities in the water. The result is quite impressive.. I used this filtered water when making breads and cocktails, super cheap and easy way. I save a lot on bottle water too. This review is based on my personal experience and I tried to be as objective as possible. I’m fairly picky about what I buy and not easy to give many stars, so this item has really impressed me much.
