Absolute necessity for a Small form factor Mini-ITX build.
A low profile cooler like this one is an absolute necessity for a small form factor Mini-ITX chassis. I used this with a build in a Joyjom two slot Mini-ITX chassis ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLXY7S4Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 ). The stock cooler on the i5 12400 is 15mm too tall in the Joyjom chassis and I suspect a number of others that support multi-slot cards with a PCIe riser behind the motherboard. This cooler fits with about 5mm to spare never-the-less it is silent as you'd expect from Noctua despite the blades spinning in close proximity to the ventilation holes. Ran the brown one for about a year before changing over to the black for purely aesthetic reasons. (This unit sits on my desk and connects remotely to a noisy disk array and LTO tape library in another space via installed Fibre Channel and SAS HBAs ). Thermals are great even when this unit is stressed moving a high volume of data from the array to the three drives in the tape library while providing Fibre Channel and iSCSI targets to severl other hosts.

13400f cool and quiet.
Was one of the only that had a low enough clearance for my 5 liter sff itx gaming pc. Wish black wasn’t at a price premium, but looks good and is the best performer in its class.

Virtually silent. But pricey

its easy to install if you had one more hand.
it is a very easy system to install. I put this on my z690i and it fit perfectly into that small space. Theres no wiggle room so it will hit around the inside of the vrams and m.2 areas unless you go literally straight down. the easy part is putting the 4 screws into the back of the motherboard but when you're trying to put on the cooler, having just a single extra hand will help because you can have that person hold the cooler and motherboard while you screw in the 4 screws.

High quality and Low noise
Many of these reviews are spot on.I used this on a i5 13500. The stock cooler was very noisy. While I do have a ASUS TUF gaming mobo with 32GB RAM and a RTX3060, this is not really meant for gaming. I just don't like slow rigs. So this cooler should suffice in terms of temps. So I ended up going with this low profile CPU cooler even though my box is full size. Just taking it out I can see the good quality. And when installed, there is a significant improvement in fan noise, this thing is really silent. I agree with the reviewer who said more than two hands is useful. I held the cooler while someone else put in the screws from behind the motherboard. And in my case, I had to remove the motherboard screws and take half outside, because my case did not provide access to couple of the screws behind the motherboard while installed.

Super quiet
Super quiet and small great for a mini itx build. That's what I used it for.

Don't use for powerful CPUs.
It's a nice cooler and it fits in very neatly.I stupidly went for a low profile cooler because I wanted my motherboard to look nice through the glass case.I have this thing next to high performance memory and on a ASUS ROG Strix mobo.It COOKS. I have idle temps at around 35 C, but it'll shoot up to 70-80 C when playing a game or something.I honestly just thought a big Hyper 212 style cooler was going to be overkill since I didn't plan on overclocking. Hopefully I'll be able to return this and trade up for a water cooled system.Literally this thing is at the same level as my motherboard heatsinks. So between the small amount of heatsink material since it's low profile and my graphics card churning out heat at max load, this cooler really struggles to dissipate any significant amount of heat.Installation is pretty easy but it could've either done with better instructions or a more robust mounting system.I think this cooler would be great for perhaps a firewall or NAS, etc.

Perfect low/mid-range cooler
I've worked with Noctua before and expected high build quality. It delivers! I have this sitting on an i3 in a NAS and I can't even set up a synthetic load that would make it sweat, the performance and low noise is excellent for this application. The mounts were easy to install, and the whole package is so low profile, it gave me extra room to work with that I didn't even plan on.I didn't have the time or interest in testing cooling capacity for hotter CPUs. I'm sure the data is out there. As with all Noctua products, you're paying for quality, and if you're already in the know, you know it's worth every penny.
