Wonderful and wonderfilled
I started this as a New Year resolution to grow in my faith. It is great, I am doing it with my 90 year old mom and we both are enjoying it so much and engaging with scripture much more. Thank you to all involved in this

A good way to get through the bible in a year
A good reading plan with relevant commentaries for each day. I have followed the plan for this book and will proceed to book 2. I am on schedule according to the plan and thanks to these books I think I will finally read the whole bible in a year combined with good commentaries in the books.

This is the PERFECT supplement book!
This year I'm getting serious about reading the Holy Bible, and am going by the Bible in a Year program produced by Jeff Cavins and Fr. Mike Schmitz. I purchased the LARGE print Great Adventure Bible that has a color-coded timeline and matching colors on each theme in the Holy Bible. And there's the Ascension App where Fr. Mike Schmitz reads that day's lesson and gives deeper explanations of the meanings. I saw this companion book to also follow along with the daily readings, and it's got some illustrations too. The font and layout are easy to read, and I have poor vision. This book is VERY helpful and I'm glad I bought it. It covers the first 3 or 4 months of readings and I plan to buy the subsequent ones as I go through this AWESOME program. A huge thank you to Jeff Cavins and Fr. Mike Schmitz for setting all of this up! 😊

Good but not necessary if you use the videos or podcasts
This book follows the Bible in a Year program by Father Mike on Podcast or YouTube and the Discovery Bible program provided by Ascension press. This Bible in a Year program is popular and highly rated. The book is fine, but I don't feel it is necessary to complete the program, that is, if you are using the videos or podcasts. The information provided in this book is the same information provided by Father Mike at the end of each video or podcast. There are some illustrations that you may or may not find of benefit to you. If you are not using the YouTube videos or Podcasts, then I can see where this would be a useful addition to your bible study program. The book is quite pricey, in my opinion, so if I were to do it over again, I would use the videos and skip the book.

Enlightening - brief but so helpful!
Am enjoying this BIBLE IN A YEAR COMPANION, Volume 1. Each day has two-pages including: 'Reflect on the Word': written in a bullet point format. Helpful in not getting bogged down with many paragraphs. The 'Take it to Prayer' reflects the daily lesson in the form of a prayer. The 'Dive Deeper' may have a photo of a place or a map or a prayer prompt or a personal challenge. This is a great Companion to the Ascension Bible in a Year. I highly recommend this!

Best companion book for the Catholic Bible, which we bought as well. Really gives the reader more to think about after reading a section in the Bible. A++++!!!!

A beautiful easy to read Bible. Like the colour coding.

Of course you would have heard or subscribed to the podcast by Fr. Mike Schmitz and possibly followed through all 365 days plus. Having the 'companion' text is better than the transcript, as you're now sure it's passed editorial care of the Ascension Press team: Jeff Cavins and Lavinia Spirito. It's also colour coded on the edges to correspond to Cavin's Great Adventure Bible Timeline if you already like the system. The reading font and type size is comfortable enough for anyone on the go or elderly, and there is some space for adding notes. The text is also free from some of the constraints of the podcast platform regarding religious faith or violence, and the editors seem sensitive about this although anyone who feels the need to be immunised from tragedy and violence is certainly not living in reality. The death of Jesus was excruciatingly violent alone, and the message about redemption is closely tied to this whole 'story' told in the Bible of God's long and faithful relationship with humanity. There nothing overtly Catholic about the commentary so it's definitely fine for any Christian to use. I am totally pleased with having bought all three volumes and glad it was broken into these to make them portable, although I won't be surprised there'll be other formats to look forward to. No caveats here, except this is about making the whole library of the Scriptures accessible to 'everyone' and those theological apologists and scholars can certainly look elsewhere for source material. Definitely a worthwhile buy especially if there's a deal.
