Some good information, poor presentation
I really tried to like Mr. Leopold's book. With a humorous title I had hoped he would shine a different light on the subject of boiler control. I found it to be very dry and hard to make myself read. I have no doubt Mr. Leopold is a skilled engineer / technician when applying the principles of good process control. I just don't think he's a great author. The book is very small, for the price you don't get much material. All the graphics are squeezed in to fit the small pages and most of the tag names are impossible to read without a magnifier. One thing this book needs to truly help it would be a good editor and proof reader. There are many grammatical errors, chapters misnumbered, and rather poor composition. The material is centered around coal fueled power generation boilers. If you're not working in one of these power plants the material will lose familiarity pretty quickly.

Four Stars
A good book written by an experienced Boiler tuner. I wish there is a similar one for turbine controls.

Great examples and suggestions for tuning a large coal fired boiler at a power plant.
I work at a coal fired power plant with ABB control system. This book is great to review the different features of the control strategy and how they work and how to tune them. It has some short discussions on each topic. The trends are very tiny in this book and you'd need a magnifying glass to read them well. There are a few grammatical errors. It's a highly recommended book, if you are actually trying to tune a large coal boiler.

Very Informational Book
The book provides a good overview of how boiler controls are designed and tuned. I would suggest it to all power plant personnel wanting to get a better understanding of what the controls actually do.The only downfall to the book is that the trends are to small and sometimes hard to follow.Great Book Overall!
