I purchased this item to temporarily organize one side of my closet until I have it professionally customized. It was the best cost effective and practical solution to get all the stuff that was piled up on the floor on to neatly and organized shelves. This maximized the space so that I have even more room than I needed. It also helped to see the layout of the space once I finally design the new closet space. They were super easy to assemble by myself. Read the one sheet directions first! I recommend double checking that the uprights are facing properly with small hole towards the bottom. When I added the coupling and then placed the smaller upright at the top, I neglected to check the direction of the holes. Guess what, I had to remove two and the couplings and uprights weren't difficult to take apart. Also count the number of slots from the top to where the shelf will sit so you get the position the first time. This was another dumb mistake I made. I also suggest thinking about what you will be placing on the shelves since different items require various height between the shelves. When I added the bottom shelf, I placed my luggage and two laundry baskets in order to determine where the next shelf would be. Don't forget to make sure that double check all four horizontal supports are facing the correct way. Remember the wood shelf needs to sit on the ledge portion of the metal side pieces. One more recommendation is to use a rubber mallet and not a hammer. Unfortunately, I didn't have a rubber mallet and used a metal hammer which worked fine however it did chip the metal coating slightly and bent a few tiny areas. If you wanted to make it more upscale you could cover the shelves in a nice fabric or add a top facing in a color. Overall it worked out and I am super please with the results. Now there is less clutter in my closet which makes my life much better. Now I will search for a shelf to temporarily hold my 50 pairs of shoes. Hope this helped, Lee

I ordered several different sizes of storage shelves from the Edsal/Muscle Rack folks. As with my other units, this one was incredibly easy to assemble, and is sturdy and stable. The only problem I had was that the brackets, which hold the top and bottom sections of the unit together, were not in the box, and, even though referred to in the directions, were not on the parts list. However, Edsal Customer Service was pleasant and quickly sent out brackets to me. She didn't treat me like an adversary, and also assured me that she would look into the missing information on the parts list. These things happen, and when a company is willing to jump right in and treat the customer right, they deserve return business. I will give it to them, and recommend them.On the other hand, Pylon, which fulfilled the order, sent the wrong size unit (smaller), and I am stuck with it having hired help to move all my crap out of my storage unit, assist me with assembly of the units, and return of all my crap. I'm stuck with the unit, and a NO RETURN policy--as if I could get the damned thing to a return site. I am NOT happy with Pylon, and only wish I had read the poor reviews of them before I ordered from them.

I should have read the reviews. Now, I see many of the 1% stars, people have already pointed out the engineering construction issues I found.These shelves look just like the shelves I already have, which I think I purchased from Home Depot.Mine are very good quality and very strong.The wood shelves are 3/8" particle board. No matter what you put on that, it will sag over time andcollapse from the weight of what's on it. And if any liquid gets on it, it will disintegrate and crumble.The biggest problem is these shelves don't come with couplers which connect the lower legs to the upper legs. Instead they use the pins of the second shelf.I attached pictures of my shelves. The one with my finger is the coupler and the gray line is where the two pieces meet. The two legs slide into that couple and it has a 2" over lap on each leg. That's very important! It makes those two legs as strong as if they were one long leg and prevents the entire system from folding in on itself.Instead, they are using the two pins of a the cross braces - that's the other picture. And the gray line shows where the two legs would meet. One pin would be attacked to the bottom and the other pin to the top. The only thing that's connecting those legs together is the 1/8" rim from those pins. That's like scot tape on two boards to make a longer board. It's a tragedy waiting to happen.Holds 4,000lbs weight? No way.

Easy to assemble shelf. Was able to set up in 10 mins by myself.

Not bad to assemble - please be aware that the 4 vertical rails each come in 2 pieces - makes assembly somewhat trickier and one of the shelves MUST be in that location, because the shelf brackets are what tie the two pieces of each rail together. The shelves are particleboard, which should be sufficient for most uses. Shelves could be replaced with plywood if you need something even sturdier.

Nice Large Storage Shelf for Basement. I have added eight of these large storage shelves to my back basement, two rows with 4 shelves in each row. I am very happy with the results and the neatness it adds to my storage area with easy access to stored items from either side of the two foot wide shelves.
