I have never owned a food scale before, this was a first. I purchased this because I have started making sour dough bread, and nearly all recipes are done by weight. I wanted something simple and uncomplicated, and this scale was exactly that. It has done the job I needed it to! For the price, you can't beat it. This is your no hassle, toe in to get over that first-time initiation.CONS: This is on the smaller side, if you are doing a very large bowl (like I did once making a double batch) in order to get the bowl centered on the scale, it kind of covers the screen a little, so a bigger scale would be preferable for a large mixing bowl or larger foods that take up more surface area.It might also be how I'm putting my ingredients in, but it has had a hard time registering the salt I add to my recipe, so it isn't the most sensitive when it comes to small amounts of weight. Again, this might be measuring technique because if I dump it in a pile, it will measure, but if I'm sprinkling in a little at a time watching the screen and waiting for a read out, it doesn't register.

I love this scale. The main reason is it runs off AAA batteries and not button batteries! I mostly use it for my sourdough starter. It so thin it fits almost anywhere. The numbers are brights when it's on. If they start to seem hard to read. Change the batteries and it will glow bright again

Long version belowThis scale has enabled me to win the Lokawakatin County pizza dough masters competition!My old scale was not illuminated or very accurate, this one is very accurate (tested) and digital display is well illuminated... which was the key to getting over the hump this year... Let me explain:Sammy Dixon's Grandpa's parlor "Outa-Time Oven" (back to the future themed shoppe) is where the competition is held annually and it is really dimly lit, I always thought prob cause aunt Martha's cataracts. But here's the deal, Sammy Dixon is always in the competition and wins best Sicilian dough (my category) every, freagin, year! In a business that will one day be passed on to him. Hmm, sketchy much. You guessed it, Sammy's family had it in for me. Locally, as far as Roma or Sicilian dough... I was on the come up, and everyone knew it! For a few years my skills were growing and being refined like a ginsu and the Dixon's took this as if I was stomping on their family crest or something... man, I am just an aspiring pizzaolio, trying to live a dream in a small town, I didn't want no beef.Long story short, their family realized if they made the competition lighting poor enough, my old non-illuminated scale could throw me a few grams off here and there on my award-winning TOP SECRET Sicilian dough recipe of 1021 grams flour, 634 grams spring water, 8 grams kosher salt, 6 grams no-salt (potassium), 7 grams instant yeast, 3 grams honey, 17 grams evoo. My new scale is illuminated, and I NAILED my measurements and finally won!!!!Dixon clan is none to happy with me or my new scale... No matter, we are movin on to state finals!! This scale has not only illuminated my measurements properly... it has really illuminated my inner most life goals and dreams... so who knows, after I take state, maybe conquer worlds.

I’ve had this for quite a few months now, and it is still working perfectly and completely accurate. I bake bread every week and I use this scale’s gram measurement to accurately measure my ingredients, which must be the perfect weight every time. I have not yet had to change the AAA batteries, which is a wonderful feature that is not many scales like this offer. I highly recommend this item.
