If your only exposure to parmigiano is out of a plastic container, I implore you to take the plunge at least once in your life and try the real thing. Look, I don’t drive fancy cars, or buy material goods to impress others, but I don’t hesitate to spend more for high quality products that bring personal joy to my life. You only go around once, so make it count. You don’t have to be a “foodie” or pretentious snob to taste and appreciate the difference it makes both eaten alone or shaved over pasta. It comes vacuumed sealed and right out of the package you can smell the nutty, buttery aromas. You can see the white glistening crystals, (the hallmark of a good quality, properly aged cheese) that can’t be duplicated through large scale ultra processed junk we buy in the grocery stores. Above all is the wonderful Unami flavors.

I've tried many different Parmesan cheeses on Amazon but this one is hand down the best of the lot. I have reordered it again. I have to force myself to stop breaking off chunks as a snack. It is that delicious. Reminds me what my mom used to buy from "the cheese lady" who would come to our house with a wheel in a shopping bag way back when I was I was growing up. This is as close to that as I could get. I strongly recommend.

Years ago I discovered the delicious parmiggiano made from a certain breed of red cow in Italy. Back then, it cost more to have it shipped to me than the price of the cheese! Fortunately Amazon fixed that, and this superior product can be selected according to the months it is aged. I usually choose 24 months. This cheese is so far above the usual quality found in stores or online that it is very worth the price. A son of mine who thought he hated parmiggiano changed his mind after tasting this wonderful cheese.

I have tried a number of Reggiano Parmigiana. I find the Vacche Rossa Parmigiana holds the top rank for overall best. I think 24-36month Reggiano Parmigiana is a close 2nd. I use these for grating over food, mixing into sauces, and grinding the rind up for bolognese sauce. I don’t like the taste of less than 24month aged and more than 36months aged is too strong for me as I don’t prefer to eat it by itself. the Vacche Rossa Parmigiana has a smooth, less salty, and more umami taste to me. The best of the best.

If you love to cook and use ‘parmesan’, this is the best Parmigiano Reggiano available. Period.

So disappointing — arrived moldy. I will give seller benefit of the doubt because this was stuck in customs for an insane amount of time. But such a promising investment wasted. Encourage you to try and find a vendor who does not have to go through customs — so sorry to say it.
