History Channel Special Ops: The Missions of America's Elite Soldiers

If your going to title a magazine Special Ops then you should include all US Military Special OPS Warriors, Even thought I gave it 5 stars good reading, But it just was about the NAVY SEALS. Its not bad this is an updated version sometime ago.

You would think the History Channel would be able to get this right. The entire book only addresses the Navy SEALs as if they are the entirety of SpecOps when they are a smaller portion of Special Operations Command troops. They tend to be the most publicized and therefore easier to write about so maybe that's why the History Channel went in this direction? Completely ignores the Army Special Forces (The Quiet Professionals) including Delta. No mention of SOAR, MARSOC, AFSOC. And nothing about the Army Rangers?!? Honestly, there is nothing in here that you can't easily read online and for free. Just look up USSOCOM on wikipedia for a much more informative read.

Writers most likely got their information from video games or movies. Information is general and not specific. Misidentifies small arms by suggesting operators (specifically SEALS) use "45-caliber handguns" in the caption when the picture shows an operator firing a SIG-Sauer P226. Below that pic is an Operator using a FN SCAR which the caption says "SEALs carry...typically either M-4 rifles or M16 rifles." It calls a Barrett an "anti-tank system" and scopes are "notoriously sensitive...and may lose calibration with the slightest bump". Where did they get this? Most Nightforce scopes can withstand a tornado. Come on. Don't waste your money on this.

When I spent $15 bucks on this mag, I thought I was getting content to match the title "SPECIAL OPS - The Missions of America's Elite Soldiers." However, this mag only includes info on Navy SEALS. They are hardly all of America's Elite Soldiers. no Delta, no Green Beret, no MARSOC Marines, etc... The SEALS are so celebrated, I already had heard everything in this mag. I was expecting a more unbiased and correct historical accounting for ALL of America's Elite Soldiers :( Wish I still had my $15

The books title is misleading, if it was titled Navy SEALs it’d be more accurate since that’s the only SOF unit that’s discussed. Aside from that if you’re looking to learn about SEALs then this book does a decent job covering them.

Very deceiving. Someone who is obsessed with the Hollywood SEALs wrote and edited this magazine . Don’t get me wrong, awesome stories and photos, but no other special ops mentioned.
