The Amateurs (The Amateurs, 1) Hardcover – November 1, 2016

I really loved the pretty little liar series and TV show so I thought I would try this Amateurs series. The first book was great and I am now half way finished with the 2nd Follow me. Looking forward to Last seen.

I started reading this book because I love Pretty Little Liars, and I assumed this murder mystery book by Sara Shepard would be similar. I didn't have very high hopes though, because the little summary on the back made it sound pretty much exactly like Pretty Little Liars, and I wanted something new. But, I decided I would read it anyways because Shepard is a pretty good author.Throughout the book I was not too impressed as it seemed like some of the parts of the book didn't seem very relevant to the storyline. But, when I reached the last 50, or so, pages, I was so impressed and I could not put the book down because it was such a surprise ending. I would have never expected it at all!This book does touch some subjects that may be a little too hard for younger teens such as, of course, murder, but also assault. I think that parents of younger children should make sure they are comfortable with it. But, overall I think that any PLL fan would like this book. I can definitely say I was impressed and I can't wait to read the sequel!

Every reveal by the second half—I didn't see it coming. This book is amazing. You have a main group of likable and, maybe, relatable characters. There are some scenes or lines that will crack you up, and others that will make you sympathize with the things they've all been through. I just finished reading the last chapter and I'M IN SHOCK. Sara just keeps serving plot twists at every end of her books and not many authors can develop that the way she does. Great job.

While the plot is good, the setting is unbelievable. 5 years apart from disappearance to case solved? Some of the "clues" or "pieces of evidence" seem incomprehensible given timed passed and teenagers with technology. And, the author's inconsistencies with minor details. I only recommend (with 3 stars) because of the ending, despite one suspect who acted crazy/possessive and left a conflict unresolved.

I love Sara Shepard books when I start reading one I can't put it down till it's finished. This book is no different the plot was very interesting and engaging. I couldn't put it down after reading the first chapter. Now I find myself impatiently waiting for the next book to come out, I want to find out what happens next. I recommend this book to anyone who's read the Pretty Little Liars series, The Lying game series, and The Perfectionist. This book is fantastic.

Wow. I wasn't sure if this would be just another Pretty Little Liars type of book but it was way better. Sure, there are wealthy teens who are good looking and some romance but it was definitely a more mature book. There was a long list of suspects but the twist and turns were pretty good. Even if I could guess some of them, the ending of this book had me in chills. I can't wait for the next book in this series!

This is my first Sara Shepard book. It was a good little mystery that kept my attention and surprised me a few times. I didn't know this was a series and if I had I might not have started it. But having just finished the last page, I'm happy there is more to move onto!

I absolutely loved this book. This book has the right amount of everything. Mystery, suspense, humour, romance, embarrassment, it’s all in there. The ending was really good. Gives readers the feeling of realizing something really obvious, just like how the characters felt at that ending chapter.

Un récit superficiel, des personnages vus et revus très stéréotypés, certains narrateurs exaspérants (et sans qu'ils fassent le moindre progrès au cours du roman), des marques de luxe citées à gogo, et enfin un "mystère" qui n'en est pas un, du moins j'avais le coupable dès le début. Donc, 2 étoiles = je n'aime pas....

After reading the Pretty Little Liars series, I was excited to see yet another release from Sara Shepard. This book was really good! I highly recommend if you like a novice thriller, not too scary which is nice. Loved it!

Brilliant read wasn't expecting to be as glued to it, couldn't put it down. Keeps you guessing, an amazing who done it book. Definitely worth a read.

I really love everything all that Sara shepard Writes and am sure that The Amateurs not it's the exception! Cant anymore to read it!

I loved this book. Here i am waiting patiently for my pre order of the sequel.This is a great book reminiscent of pretty little liars. Everyone is a suspect everyone had motive but in the end its who you least expect and someone you grew to love.
