Mindfulness Drop Spindle by Kaituna - Hand made Indian Rosewood in Lotus Flower design for hand spinning yarn

I purchased the "Mindfulness" spindle. It's a gorgeous piece of art and one of the nicest spindles I've ever used. It's both beautiful and practical. The solid weight of the rosewood makes spinning easy. And the smooth finish prevents the snags I experience on lesser quality spindles. The only issue I have (and it's pretty major...) --> The notches on the lotus flower are hardly useful for holding yarn. I wish I'd purchased the "Harmony" version. I'll be taking my Dremel tool to the lotus flower to add my own notch. Despite the design flaw of not having a good notch, this is my new favorite drop spindle.

I am just learning to spin my own yarn and bought another spindle at a LYS. While it is nice, it isn't anywhere close to this weight and size. In my opinion a heavier drop spindle is so much easier to learn on. I love the fact that this spindle is so much larger as well since the yarn I wand up spinning is a variation of bulky to almost lace weight which I'm fine with, but it gives me more room for more yarn! You just can't go wrong with more yarn IMHO! I haven't tried very many spindles and only have used a drop spindle but this one is by far the best I've tried. I can't recommend a better drop spindle for beginners, and I would imagine experienced spinners would love this one too!

I watched a couple of you-tube videos on spinning with a drop spindle and decided to give it a try. I am a felt crafter, so I already had wool on hand. The first afternoon's efforts yield enough yarn to knit almost a square foot of soft fabric. It's fairly easy to take it slow and make sure the twist is even. After spinning up a couple of hanks, I used the drop spindle again to (reverse spin) them into two-ply yarn.I probably could have come up with something home-made for the spindle, but this was very nicely made with a smooth finish that doesn't snag on the wool. It's decorative & fun to use, just a delight to be able to try this ancient craft!

This spindle is extremely light yet extremely solid - I've dropped it on the floor quite a few times. I bought a standard dowel/toy wheel drop spindle that is sold on Etsy with some fiber and it works fine, but it's not nearly as light nor easy to work with as this one. Not to mention, this is beautiful to look at also!My only issue is the "flower petals" being used as the notch to hold the yarn, because the yarn has to go over the whorl first, which has a greater diameter than the flower, it can't sometimes slip and not catch in between the petals. Happens more when the cop is getting too full.I still highly recommend this, especially for a beginning drop spindler.

This spindle is lovely. The longer dowel is nice and the spin is good. The only cautions I would pass along are that the notches in the petals with notches on the whorl are far enough back that your yarn slips off when you have a good bit on the dowel. the hook at the top is larger than I expected, and I had to bend the hook at the top because the roving kept slipping out of it. I have been spinning for 2 years. This one is beautiful, but not for beginners. Take your time and learn how this one works for you.

I received my drop spindle on time and as described. I am a beginner when it comes to spinning, and I highly recommend this spindle. This spindle works beautifully, is well balanced, and has enabled me to start going from park and draft to suspended spinning. I look forward to becoming more proficient with this spindle and making yarn. Thank you.

This is really a beautiful wooden drop spindle with a nice top with slots for the spun yarn to be held. Very sturdy as well. I recommend this to all who spin their own yarn, it definitely made with quality and function in mind.thank you!

I love it! I bought to start spinning Husky hair, and it's very easy to use, I love the multiple notches in the whirl, and it comes in a cute little bag.
