Beautiful Days (A Pressure Releasing Coloring Book Making Life Blossom) (Chinese Edition)

“Beautiful Days” is the Chinese edition of a coloring book by Pu Yingmei. The wording within the designs are all in English; however, the covers are in Chinese. The information page states that the original version of the book was in published in South Korea in 2015 while the Chinese version was published in 2016.The designs cover a wide range of popular subjects including animals, sewing, dolls, typewriters, paints, and even a type of “hippie” VW style van. There are many designs with lots of flowers and doodle art to allow the colorist the ability to re-image the designs with a wide ranging color palette.The binding on this coloring book is sewn but it is different from what I have seen in US and UK sewn books. The stitching is in red and there is no binding cover on the edge – you can see the folded edge of the paper and the stitching. Surprisingly, this works really well for getting the book to lay flat for coloring. No matter what page I turned to in the book, the book easily fell into a flat position.The paper in this book is a cream tone and is heavyweight with a slight roughness to the paper. That provides a good “tooth” for gripping colored pencil pigment. I was able to test both oil and wax based pencils with good results. The pigment went on well with multiple layers of the same color, with layers of multiple colors and I was able to easily blend both types of pencils with a blending stick.The designs are printed on both sides of the page, so I tested my other coloring medium and found that only alcohol-based markers bled through the page. I had no bleed through or shadows on the back of the page from water-based markers, India ink pens or gel pens.

This is a very beautiful book. When I saw a page-through review on YouTube of this book, I just had to have it. It could be described as a flower doodle coloring book using some very beautiful pictures. The picture on the cover is in the book, and is half of a full page spread. There are picture on both sides, but the paper is of a heaver weight. The binding has thread and the double pages stay flat. It is very different than any western style book of the same type. It has that Asian interpretation that I just love. You will be captivated by the images alone. If you have had enough of animal and abstract doodles, this may be a book for you. It takes the doodle and moves into the realm of the cute. It may be a more expensive book, but it is worth it. I received this book and the binding was missing, we could see the threads. They send me another one for free after I told them and the binding was also missing. Now I have two defective books for the price of one..... Anyway, the pages of the books hold together fine, it's just the paper covering the binding that's missing. It's just not pretty. The drawings are so beautiful, I guess if I like the book so much, I could find a place doing spiral binding. It's a very nice coloring book and the paper is thick. Very pretty and detailed drawings.

Love the book. My only problem with it is the paper. Doesn't have a good grain. And that's subjective to each person. Pictures are wonderful, though! 😊

This book arrived today. The corners of the book are yellowed. It does not appear to be new.
