Almost as good as in India
I've eaten Dal Bukhara in the Bukhara restaurant in New Delhi many times, and this is almost as good . Brilliant delicious product

A good dorm food!
Easy to prepare & tasty. Maybe a bit too much sodium.

Dramatic Change in Recipe (for the worse)
I don't know what happened to this stuff, but it's not the same same product as I've been purchasing for the last 10 years. I loved having this in my kitchen for when I needed a quick meal or something I could grab to take to work for lunch in a pinch. For packaged food, it was actually quite nutritious and tasty. But something has obviously changed. Instead of being rich, thick or "stew-like", this has now become a liquid. Each time I've opened a package from my last two orders I wasn't ready for how fast it poured out of the packaging and ended up splashing or spilling it over the counter. It's literally like pouring a pouch full of water. There are a handful of lentils, but not many (where as before it was mostly lentils). There's no doubt the recipe has been changed to improve profit margin. It's a shame because I really liked this stuff and I'm sad to lose an old standby. But it's not nearly as nutritious as it used to be, and while the taste is still good, the texture has changed and it's no longer pleasing to eat.

mild, pleasant flavor, pair with rice and/or naan for more substance. Leans soup like
Good flavor, very mild, a little soup like than what I expected. Not brothy, just a little thin. Tiny lentils dont add a lot of texture, hence my immediate thought that it needs something more. Needs something to go with it- rice, naan, something. More lentils?I know this is convenience food. Of course it isnt going to be the same as what can be attained from a restaurant or from ones kitchen. I wish I lived closer to Indian restaurants (and/or could afford meals out). I have on my bucket list to learn a couple of my favorite Indian dishes, but I know it wont come close. SO I try stuff like this, and keep a slew of options in my pantry. Can it give me that taste that I want, when I want it? Sorta. It's passible. I think it could be doctored up a bit. But even as is I like it. Ingredients are good, and I would buy this again (on sale).

Free 2 tune CD in each box
This is the first time I tried this brand, but couldn't pass it up on the Friday sale. The flavor of the Dal Bukara was okay, very acid-like it came out of a can vs. a pouch. Depending on your taste buds it has a mild to moderate heat. It was mild to me. To decrease the acid taste that made me think heartburn was soon to arrive, I added a 1/4 c of organic low fat shredded coconut. This tamed the acid flavor and I was able to finish it. Oddly one of my cats seemed to like it. It was very filling and the listed ingredients are healthy except the butter and cream. Personally I'm on a quest to eat more lentils and more anti-inflammatory spices which usually are present in yummy Indian cuisine. I will eventually eat the remaining 5 boxes, but I won't be reordering this flavor, but am willing to try another curry by this brand. So far I prefer the Tasty Bite brand as I have never been disappointed in any of the 6 or so products I've tried. The enclosed CD vol. 5 is produced by Virgin, features 2 classical duets with Shailesh Bhagwat playing the shehnai and Mukundraj Deo playing the tabla. Of course I had to open the other boxes to see if each contained a different volume. I did get one of each and two of vol.4. If you have not been exposed to instrumental Indian music these CDs provide a nice introduction.
