These Arena goggles are about as good as it gets for open water training. They are built heavy duty, and you can feel the durability straight away. I went for the mirrored version, which is excellent for bright conditions. Swimming in Dubai, the sun is extremely strong, but with these the glare doesn’t hit your eyes at all. The most important thing for me is that they let in absolutely zero water, even on long swims. I regularly put in two kilometers in the sea, and they’ve never leaked once. The clasp at the back is very secure, perhaps even a little too tight, but that also means it stays in place and feels solid. They’re not particularly sleek in design, but they are very hard wearing. After six months of use in salt water, they’re still holding up with no damage or signs of wear, which is impressive. In terms of comfort, they sit somewhere in the middle. They’re not as uncomfortable as my racing goggles, which can really dig in, but they do leave a bit of bruising around the eyes after a long swim. For training, that’s a small trade-off compared to how reliable they are. I wouldn’t necessarily call these the best for pool sessions there are lighter and more comfortable options for that but for open water training, they are perfect. Secure, durable, sun-resistant, and leak-free. They’ve become my go-to goggles for sea swimming.
